^^ I couldn't see myself paying $15,000 for any Chevy with 120k on the clock. I'd rather just have a crappier car with less miles or pay more money for something with lower miles.

yeah, when the time comes i will be looking for one with lower miles than that one. I do like the looks of the hardtop cars, though.

yeah, the frc's (fixed roof coupe, pre zo6) are sweet and somewhat rare. they're ligher than the coupe/roadster as well, but still about 60lbs. heavier than a z06 iirc due to runflat tires and a thicker windshield.

i don't really see much of an issue with buying a higher mileage c5. most of the "common" issues are age related more than mileage. i.e., a 2000 with 60k miles is likely to show the same problems as one with 160k. the drivetrains are pretty damn stout/reliable, you've just got the typical gm build quality/materials things.

look at Ahmet's corvette threads. there's a good bit of discussion/tech info about them.

[Edited on July 13, 2009 at 8:00 PM. Reason : $15k is a bit steep for that one though, usual dealer markup. could be had for $13-14k probably]

From my brief stint, I would agree. Miles never scare me, the C5 is no exception.
FRC is sweet, but Z06's can be had 18kish regularly. If you can go a couple of grand higher, I'd suggest that. Otherwise, you can probably snatch up an FRC for less than $15k.

you get good deals on high miles, people are dumb when cars get over 100k
