Definitely my fav WWII era aircraft. Not anything I'd actually ever buy though. Unless I was unbelievably loaded.

:sigh: Need to get my tail wheel endorsement one of these days.

good call. Word on the street is that I might get a ride in one later this year. Probably going to have to settle for a B-25. *sigh*

I'd "settle" for a ride in that.

Saw one down in Wilmington last year, a TB-25N. Panchito. Maybe they'll let you fire off a few rounds.

I used to fly out of a tiny airport south of Orlando that had 3 mustangs hangered at the other end.

Sometimes they would take off in formation just to taunt me.

^ There is some place down there that sells rides in them. It is a dual cockpit trainer, so you actually get to fly the aircraft. Runs a cool $5000 last time I checked.

^^ I've seen Panchito at Pope AFB and got to watch FIFI (the last flying B-29) take off from RDU when I was a kid. Wiley Sanders is the trucking king in Alabama and owns several aircraft including a DC-3, P-51, Skyraider, B-25, and a Texan amongst others. They're having an airshow down here in Enterprise in September and I might have an in.

It is far from a given, but I've got a good shot

Yep, Kissimmee Gateway. They have 3 T-6 Texans as well. It was a hell of a sight to be in the pattern and to have the tower tell you to look out for the P-51 ahead of you. I would never see it at pattern altitude, but they would dive down out of nowhere on final.

It used to be a full fledged warbird museum before a hurricane came through and smashed their hangar along with everything in it. I passed through in 02 and can remember walking around the corner and coming face to face with a half restored B-17.

A place across the street was restoring an FW-190.

^^^ The little drawers you can get to put under them run about $200 each. Total BS.

You could just as easily stack them on cinderblocks and then store stuff in empty liquor boxes from the ABC store underneath. You know, because we're classy like that.
