Concept:Production:Who told them this would be a good idea?

Looks like a Lumina banged an Aztek
7/17/2009 11:46:28 PM
the production model looks better to meimoitt
7/18/2009 12:07:53 AM
this is the first time in history when the production model looks beter than the concept.
7/18/2009 12:33:42 AM
looks like a civic.
7/18/2009 12:44:37 AM
^ YeahIt's not necessarily ugly, it just looks like every other compact car on earth right now. At least the concept looked original.
7/18/2009 12:49:38 AM
i actually like it. plus if the whole thing is about efficiency, the production one is probably a lot more aerodynamic.
7/18/2009 1:39:08 AM
I thought this thread was about volt:
7/18/2009 2:00:37 AM
production model looks boring as shit. concept wasn't perfect, but at least it was distinctive
7/18/2009 2:16:03 AM
it's not a sports car, it's a car that runs on a battery.

^^Tesla? 0-60 in like 3.8 seconds. Battery means more torque.
7/18/2009 2:40:00 AM
^he wasn't saying that there can't be battery powered sports cars, just that the Chevy Volt isn't one of them
7/18/2009 2:59:31 AM
True. Although the concept car looked very sporty. Guess as a production car it needed to be more practical. Does look like a civic.

I noticed this as well...Government Motors pussied out and decided not to make a real car. No one is going to switch from a Dodge Charger or Caddy S series for one of the production model. The concept at least had a chance of getting REAL drivers excited about a new car. It's spiraled downward from "this has potential to change everything" to "tree hugger drivers only." 'Tis a crying shame.
7/18/2009 3:16:25 AM
yeah that was a real bad strategy for toyota too.
7/18/2009 3:27:20 AM
7/18/2009 3:28:11 AM
Why wouldn't honda and toyota drivers switch with the concept body style?"Well I like the idea of not using gas, but the car isn't boring enough for me, PASS"
7/18/2009 4:02:14 AM
As soon as GM learns how to make cars handle better, I don't care what gas mileage they get...they'll be back in business...Nobody wants to drive most of the boats they sell...

they're both pretty ugly imo
7/18/2009 9:33:14 AM
So is a camry. IMO, one of the ugliest cars on the road.

7/18/2009 11:19:31 AM
everyone forgot about the volt since the camaro came out.
7/18/2009 12:00:58 PM
Obama said they had to make it cheaper and competitive with foreign cars. This is what we get from Government Motors.
7/18/2009 12:28:41 PM
y'all keep talking about how it looks. fortunately, some drivers still buy cars because of how they perform. i mean, that thing is ugly as sin, but if it was affordable, reliable, and efficient, then i'd consider it.
7/18/2009 1:57:12 PM
the thing is, there's no reason they can't make it all of those things and make it look pretty good. they're limited due to the fact that aerodynamic designs aren't absolutely beautiful to most folks, but they could still get it looking a lot better.
7/18/2009 2:00:14 PM
mmm generic
7/18/2009 2:19:09 PM
7/18/2009 2:25:56 PM
it does look very similar to a Civic. Shorter trunk, but the rest of it is very similar
