^ Yeah

It's not necessarily ugly, it just looks like every other compact car on earth right now. At least the concept looked original.

i actually like it. plus if the whole thing is about efficiency, the production one is probably a lot more aerodynamic.

it's not a sports car, it's a car that runs on a battery.

^^Tesla? 0-60 in like 3.8 seconds. Battery means more torque.

^he wasn't saying that there can't be battery powered sports cars, just that the Chevy Volt isn't one of them

True. Although the concept car looked very sporty. Guess as a production car it needed to be more practical. Does look like a civic.

I noticed this as well...

Government Motors pussied out and decided not to make a real car. No one is going to switch from a Dodge Charger or Caddy S series for one of the production model. The concept at least had a chance of getting REAL drivers excited about a new car. It's spiraled downward from "this has potential to change everything" to "tree hugger drivers only." 'Tis a crying shame.

Yeah, but don't you think the point might be that people will switch from a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry? Which do you see more of on the road?

Why wouldn't honda and toyota drivers switch with the concept body style?

As soon as GM learns how to make cars handle better, I don't care what gas mileage they get...they'll be back in business...

Nobody wants to drive most of the boats they sell...

as soon as GM learns how to make cars that have the perceived value as honda and toyota...

and even if they can, honda and toyota's values are probably stilll better, so GM is pretty much fucked

Probably not to the Volt. Last time I heard, it's going to be $50k+.
A fusion or malibu yes, both very good cars equal to, and in somethings better than a camry or accord.

It is all about perception. Toyota has people thinking they are green since they build the prius, even when they have gas guzzlers -- i.e. the Tundra. All the suppliers are the same (I work for one). Pretty much the same bearings, seats, dashes, engines, pistons, transmissions, electronics go into each car.

So is a camry. IMO, one of the ugliest cars on the road.

Obama said they had to make it cheaper and competitive with foreign cars.

This is what we get from Government Motors.

y'all keep talking about how it looks. fortunately, some drivers still buy cars because of how they perform. i mean, that thing is ugly as sin, but if it was affordable, reliable, and efficient, then i'd consider it.

the thing is, there's no reason they can't make it all of those things and make it look pretty good. they're limited due to the fact that aerodynamic designs aren't absolutely beautiful to most folks, but they could still get it looking a lot better.

the key word is "if". The volt will be none of these things, and no electric vehicle will be for a long time to come.

it does look very similar to a Civic. Shorter trunk, but the rest of it is very similar
