If I have a backup file on my computer, with the .ipd extension....and let's say that I got it there using the PC based blackberry tools which is no longer an option...I have to assume that with Pocketmac, I can simply load the .idp file and then sync it with my blackberry. Right? I mean this is the point of backing up files right?

If that's the case, then how would I go about doing this? Currently, it's only giving me choices for shit like 'Entourage', 'AddressBookContact' etc....how do I get it to import the already saved .ipd file?

I know......and I was actually worried you'd be annoyed....but I did a search for 'pocketmac' and nothing came up and since this is a specific question about 2 different pieces of software, one of them on a specific OS, I thought perhaps it warranted it's own thread. I have this feeling though no one on here is gonna know how to help

So basically you have a program for PC, and it created a backup file, and you want to load that backup using the same program but for Mac?

you'll need to mount the phone as a drive. IIRC back when i had a BB, the only way I could make that work was if there was a microSD card installed. Then my Mac would see the phone as a USB drive, and I could move files back and forth. For whatever reason, I could never see the onboard flash from my mac. PocketMac did not help, and would only sync specific application data.

FYI:

BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac coming soon!
Many BlackBerry users love there BlackBerry’s to death, but when it comes to loading new OS’s or syncing there address-book with their computer, Mac users have it the hard way. Well luckily, for them. RIM will be releasing a BlackBerry Desktop Manager for the Mac and will have the following key features:

Sync your iTunes playlists, calendars, contacts, notes and tasks [if Apple doesn't find a way to kill it, of course]
Add/Remove applications
Update your device when new software becomes available
Backup and restore your device data with such features like automatically scheduled backups and optional encryption (security is #1 as always…)
Manage multiple devices
Make sure to check out http://www.blackberry.com/mac and register to get notified when this software will be available.
