when they get to zzz-9999 I'd be willing to bed aaa-0000 is no longer in circulation, so they could reuse plates that haven't been used in a certain number of years

i was wondering if thats the way they did it, but i couldn't remember any of the first 3 being numbers or the last 4 being letters (unless a vanity plate)

apparently since most states (dunno if NC is one of them) avoid using the letter Q both may be wrong

they can probably about start over again because most of the ones from when they started that pattern are no longer in use and they can re-issue old numbers that aren't used any more.

After ZZZ-9999 I think they will loop back to AAA-0000. A couple years ago they reissued new plates to those who had plates starting with the letters A through H, so those combinations are not on the road and are available to use again once they run through the Z series.

Plus, I heard that they're switching back to the blue-letter plates once the stock of red-letter plates is used up.

the color of the plate doesn't matter... think about a cop putting in the plate number to run it....
