I need advice for roulette. What are some tips for winning? Apparently it doesn't help to grope the dealer.

the only way to beat roulette is to just watch and not play.

it's got a terrible house advantage dear.

you dont have to memorize shit

they're required to allow you to have strategy sheets on the table if you want to.

I won $50 from roulette last night. I can't do cards. I get drunk off of one glass of wine and then forget where I am and what I'm doing. Games that involve luck are best for me.

if you can stomach the stupid sigma value on 3 card poker the optimal strategy is as easy as it comes, and the house advantage is roughly half as high as roulette.

and speaking of retarded variance, craps can be played in an optimal fashion to reduce house advantage to lower than blackjack, but it's all dependant on the house rule on number of odds allowed

and your gut to be able to put a min bet on the pass line and max odds behind.

How do you play craps? And why would odds be better?

And how do you play blackjack?

craps is embarassingly complex for a beginner, but true to vegas tradition, a girl who doesnt know how to play is considered a huge good luck charm.

roulette is my favorite game
the only tip i can give you is to walk around and watch the table boards for patterns. if you find a table hitting on red over 50% of the time...play that table with minimal bets betting on color only.

its not a great tip for getting rich quick but if you can be patient and watch the color patterns you can guesstimate on what color to bet on and with a little luck make a little money.

when i play the wheel i focus on odd/even and red/black fuck playing the numbers. last time i played i turned just 40 bucks of chips into almost 300 worth of chips just playing red/black odd/even on the wheel

I just need a game where I can sit there and look pretty. And drink and win some $$$.

So, a girl who doesn't know how to play will bring good luck to herself or to others?

craps is all about the table

when the table wins, everyone except the assholes betting against the shooter win, so everyone's extatic and partying

when the table is losing, it's a bunch of crumudgens that hate life

it can be the funnest game in vegas by far, and the most excrutiatingly painful on those downswings.

if you just go up to a table that's partying, you've got to wait for the "come out" roll, which will be indicated by the big white disc being flipped to "OFF" on the side, and not on a number

put a min bet on the pass line, stand behind it, and just wait for them to give you money or take it

[Edited on July 24, 2009 at 11:02 AM. Reason : not optimal at all, really, you need protection beds, odds bets, and come bets. but im lazy]

Exactly.
If you're good, you'll at least break even.
Depending on the house rules about multiple splits and doubling-down, you can really win big...

the best card counters in the world shift the edge from - 0.53% to approx + 0.45% over the course of a long enough sample size.

however, that's why card counters have to have huge rolls, to withstand the variance.... bet big when the push is up to approx +5-7%, and your ev is easily calculated.

even the best card counters are still holden to the bell curve.

blackjack is actually one of the purest studies of basic probabilities that's out there.

place bets on (1st 12) and (2nd 12). That basically gives you a 66.67% chance of winning. the returns will be slow, but steady. I did this on a video roulette machine, and ended up being up 15 dollars in about 20 mins. ( i know that doesnt seem like a lot but i was only betting like like 2-3 bucks at a time, and hey, at least i won money, obviously the more you bet the more you'll receive faster).

didnt see that one, saw the one with the students who came up with a mathmatical equation and a device that predicted color and within 3 of the number it would fall on.

it was a electronic device on their ankle. saw it a long time ago, forgot how it worked ... but after some time one of them started to sweat as a pit boss questioned him and the device started shortcircuiting and shocking him. he stayed cool though

thought that was pretty sweet, they made a killing all over

it was about this guy: http://crapschampionship.com/dombio.shtml

Quote :
"Dominic LoRiggio is known as "the Dominator" in gambling circles and in the past several years he has made a gigantic impact on casino craps gambling with his Golden Touch™ Craps™ dice control and Golden Touch™ Blackjack classes and seminars, which he teaches with his partner, best-selling author Frank Scoblete.

The Dominator is an expert at craps and blackjack, having written several books on those subjects. His most recent book, co-authored with Frank Scoblete, is the Golden Touch™ Dice Control Revolution!

The Dominator has been featured on several television shows. The A&E Network series "Take This Job" used Dominator and Frank Scoblete, along with other dice controll experts to play (and beat) three casinos in non-stop taped action. Dominator was also featured on the Travel Channel show "What Would You Do If?", written by Frank Scoblete.

The Dominator's life story was told on The History Channel show "The Dice Dominator" as a part of the Breaking Vegas series. Dominator appeared in that show which explained how he learned to be such a devastating advantage player. He was just featured on ZKK-TV in Great Britain and on The National Geographic Channel, which actually showed his and his partner Frank Scoblete's precision dice control rolling prowess. "

Put your money on either 1-18 or 19-36 followed by 2 of the three 2-1 columns at the right of the board. You get paid even money on one followed by 2-1 on the columns. You only lose on 8 numbers. You won't win quick but you'll have a lot of fun sitting at the table drinking.

You should bet in clusters. Look at the wheel and pick your favorite number and then bet the two numbers to the left and right. It will help you have a better advantage (but could lead to losing more money)

I played roulette for all of 30 seconds last night before realizing I was too drunk to be playing anything. at least I ended up $50. I want to find a $3 min. table somewhere to play tonight and make small third table bets.

you might have to get off the strip to find a 3 dollar table unless you guys have already seen some.

that, to me, would be ideal.

last year i could only find a few 5 dollar tables and it was a hunt for those

since vegas added the 'previous winning numbers boards' on the roulette tables, the house advantage has increased. that's because people believe the myth that there are colors or numbers that are more likely to hit based on previous winning numbers. But each roll is an independent event, and the color and number drawn before it has no effect on the next roll.

(thanks ST 101)

his analysis is completely flawed.

since it is in fact an independant event, it doesnt matter for shit if people bet on what they feel is comming next or not, or what hasnt hit recently.

past is irrelavent, and the house advantage is exactly the same.

they've made more due to more people playing, but i assure you, the percentages do not change.
