Yes, you have 2 months to catch up on 3 seasons.

It won't take that long, through, because you'll burn through them so quickly.

woot. huge fan of S1. S2 and S3 were also pretty good. New season looks epic. Prequel webisodes sound pretty awesome too.

two more episodes to go for me in season 3.

I've read through some of the old dexter threads.

i feel all left out, being unable to discuss this show as i've been going through all the previous seasons.

Also, I want to fuck the hell out of Rita.

yeah, I wonder if that's *spoiler* material.....
That trailer seemed to show a lot. Hopefully we learn about the new killer early on in the season.

I agree. I wasn't that happy with Season 2, but Season 3 definitely made up for it.

And I'm soooo looking forward to Season 4!

It's kinda creepy though, Dexter and his sister are married IRL.

yeah, but IIRC, the Doakes storyline, especially there at the end when he was close and after he found Dexter, didn't really make much sense (like.... how did Doakes get out to the cabin and where was his car/boat)

geek factoid: ^ was the first character seen on the first episode of Buffy.

(although age has been very, very kind to her)

yeah, I don't remember the details exactly but it was kind of weird... I was just pissed the whole season because I knew he was going to die at the end and I really liked his character.

Oh, how to say this without spoiling the obvious...

The end of his character's storyline, I enjoy seeing that happen to Smits.

I've read all the books. First and second are good. The show doesn't take much if anything from the second book if I remember right, but it's been a while. I doubt the show will ever take anything from the third novel; it gets pretty fuckin' weird.

I think the next book comes out next month.

^ what he said

I'm gonna read the next book when it comes out, but the story line is so different that it's a bit weird reading them while watching the show.

i kind of like that they take different directions

i love the show but the book came first so its interesting for me to investigate the roots of it all

I don't think the direction the books have taken would work very well, even on Showtime. And it certainly wouldn't work for NBC.

Granted, they've done things like it before, but it seems to turn off prevmium channel viewers in the longrun (think Carnivale).

[Edited on August 20, 2009 at 2:03 PM. Reason : But hey, i could be wrong, I LIKED Carnivale.]

im not saying the show should have taken the same plot line as the book, i was just commenting on how i enjoy both because they have different directions but the same origin

just watched the Preair

Episode 1 SPOILERS!! ***********

great fucking start! First episode had everything for a quintessential Dexter episode
John Lithgow as the Trinity Killer looks to be a great villain. He's fucking nuts.
The theme-song remix where Dexter was tired was classic.
And Dexter had a good kill, but the crash at the end!? Damn - i always wondered if/when Dexter would get caught with body parts in his car. Wonder how he's going to get out of this one.
Oh yeah, and seems like it should be soon when Rita starts hounding him about getting home earlier.... he can't really pull this "i'm staying late at work" stuff indefinitely, especially when he's there literally all night.

End E1 Spoilers

I'm not so sure he had the body parts in his car. You would think he would first go drop off the body parts before going to the pharmacy. Why would he go home with a car full of body?

Did you not watch the previews for the next episode? It showed him lifting the hatch in the back of the wrecked vehicle and pulling out a black trash bag with something in it. And it also showed him talking to his dad about going back to the crash site because he was missing a bag and that it might have flown out of the vehicle during the crash.

I am not looking forward to Rita wife-bitching at Dexter, although she is quite saucy. Everything else should be good though.

^^^ No I didn't, I watched it on demand this morning and turned it off before the previews.

It seems stupid to me. The Dexter we have known the last three seasons wouldn't be falling asleep and he wouldn't leave a body in the car when going home to his family.

That's the thing, this is a new Dexter. This is Father/Husband Dexter, which I think brings so much to the show.

i was thinking he dumped off the bags before heading to the pharmacy. having body parts in the back of a car seems incredibly unlikely, even for new dexter. (i didn't see the previews)

He disposes of his victims in the gulf stream. With a sick kid and Rita waiting there's no way he had time to go to his boat, cast off, dump the body, come back to the harbor, and then drive home to the fam.

That episode was killer! The one thing the previews didn't touch on at all...the fact that Dexter's mom is the next and last folder for Deborah to go snooping through. I really want to see what happens with that.

It always amazes me how much stuff happens in a one-hour episode of Dexter, especially the season premieres.
