I decided I'm going to go on Sunday - I'm booking the trip tomorrow... But I'm wondering if I should go all-exclusive or just stay at a resort downtown or close to downtown, and eat/drink at restaurants.

I'm thinking I might want to go all-inclusive because I drink a lot.

What do you think? Looking for advice from people who have been there...

hmmm, I went when I was 18 or 19, freshman year of college, with the family. but, i dont really have much advice to offer on which one is better. its a great place to visit though

Id def. go all inclusive though, but you are in Mexico and tequila is cheaper than water.

I've been to Cabo. Stayed at the Melia. Apparently not too soon after they revamped the place and now it's more like a 'club' than a hotel. Which may be good for some. It's not unusual I've been told, to see multiple people engaging in sexual activities in the pool in the middle of the day. Again, good for some, not for others.

But the staff was good and it's close enough to town that we walked there.

Actually I'm not doing all-inclusive. I plan to go to lots of restaurants and clubs there, and my resort is a few blocks from downtown.

I will do all the others there though - Plus, I'm doing the ATV tour of Land's End

been multiple times. had family that lived there buliding/designing a new resort (Hacienda del Mar) and a Canyon Ranch (that has yet to come to fruition)
cabo san lucas sucks. it's like the mexican myrtle beach or the new cancun. too touristy and spring break like. also, i hate all inclusive resorts. get out and see things, or else whats the point of traveling to just sit on your ass at a pool and drink (can't you do that where you live?). I've stayed at the One & Only Palmilla before, which is probably the nicest resort in Mexico but it's on the corridor between san lucas and san jose. Las Ventanas is also pretty BA. They are both pricey. Maybe eat there one night or grab drinks and ceviche?
I've also stayed in a private house at Palmilla (villas del mar). san jose is more my type of area. If you surf, let me know and I can tell you a few good breaks. i know the area pretty well so let me know if you have any questions. Also, it's touristy but get in a water taxi and ride out the arch where the Pacific meets the sea of cortez. its pretty neat.

Oh yeah, I went to Me one night (Nikki Beach is there right?) If the club scene is your thing, you'll like it (not for me) You might see a celeb or two there. I think the night I went I saw either Katherine McPhee (if you can call her a celeb) or Katherine Heigl. I've seen them both down there but forgot where and when I saw which one.
