whoop de doo. pretty much everything in varying degrees is harmful to you. live your life, do what you want.
7/28/2009 8:45:10 PM
get you some cancer! fuck yea!
7/28/2009 8:45:34 PM
i'm pretty sure that if i put arsenic in my lady friends dinner she is going to die, but if she goes to the tanning bed she is just going to look really hot and not have tan lines
7/28/2009 8:55:27 PM
tan lines are hot though
7/28/2009 9:00:13 PM
false
7/28/2009 9:01:01 PM
^^true
7/28/2009 9:01:40 PM
7/28/2009 9:06:26 PM
deep tans are not hot
7/28/2009 9:08:23 PM
I agree with the spirit of the quoted post, though not its letter]
7/28/2009 9:10:10 PM
all these tanning bed addicts are going to end up looking like old shoe leather and looking way older than their actual age when they're older
7/28/2009 9:11:48 PM
7/28/2009 9:17:59 PM
i do not want to look like leather. i wear sunscreen on my face everyday.
7/28/2009 9:20:24 PM
i knew i liked you i do that too hahaoh and I really have nothing against people who use fake tanner i mean..... it's like dying your hair. but not. orange people put a giggle in my day[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 9:22 PM. Reason : seriously]
7/28/2009 9:20:40 PM
i also have freckles (A LOT) so i'm definitely scurred of the sun
7/28/2009 9:22:39 PM
ugh! oops.[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 9:23 PM. Reason : .]
7/28/2009 9:23:10 PM
oh man i get them SO EASILY. also i turn into a freaking lobster in like 10 minutes so I definitely stay inside. ow.
7/28/2009 9:23:57 PM
...I took my husband to the dermatologist today, and he had a huge chunk taken out of his back. You know, the pasty fellow whose back sees the sun 6 times a year, if that, with sunscreen.Skin cancer isn't something I want to tangle with, and it is the easiest cancer to avoid.
7/28/2009 9:24:41 PM
I know relatively little about tanning beds so someone please explain why a tanning bed would be more likely to cause cancer than spending days out in the sun fishing/ swimming/ working etc.
7/28/2009 9:24:44 PM
pretty sure tanning beds are like more concentrated UV rays or some shit. like you can get a tan in 10 minutes
7/28/2009 9:25:50 PM
Different kinds of rays.Higher concentrations.More direct exposure. More exposure.
7/28/2009 9:26:22 PM
i stopped tanning (via the tanning bed and in the sun) about 2-3 years ago.my skin has never been softer.seriously [Edited on July 28, 2009 at 9:45 PM. Reason : 2.5 maybe?]
7/28/2009 9:44:47 PM
I mean- is there a difference from tanning in the sun and just being active outside without a shirt on?If not than I'm screwed.
7/28/2009 9:46:05 PM
personally i'm wondering why drop dead doesnt think tanlines are hot. i'm also weirded out by khcadwal wearing sunscreen daily. a bit excessive if you ask me. and i'd like to conclude with i hope jessiejepp reads this thread.
7/28/2009 10:00:19 PM
i have told jessie several times that tanning beds are bad bad bad and will continue to do soand because they look fucking RIDICULOUS. and don't hate on sunscreen
7/28/2009 10:05:19 PM
7/28/2009 10:06:04 PM
i don't think wearing sunscreen on my face daily is bad!i have a TON of freckles on my face and i would prefer my face NOT wrinkle prematurely due to sun exposure! it is in my face lotion and makeup so it isn't like it is an extra step or anything.
7/28/2009 10:08:05 PM
^^how is there a difference though? i mean one is moving around and one is sitting there like "oh look at me i'm getting brown"it's still the same amount of UV ray exposure amirite?[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 10:08 PM. Reason : ]
7/28/2009 10:08:25 PM
folks get so up in arms over this topic. folks ought to do whatever the fuck they want with their skin.
7/28/2009 10:10:51 PM
see this is the prob with americans now a days. we are such pussies. idk if its the media or what, but its like how the fuck do you think ppl got through life back in the early 20th century etc.[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 10:11 PM. Reason : ^finally something i can agree with]
7/28/2009 10:10:55 PM
7/28/2009 10:12:05 PM
^^ well if you look at women back then people WANTED to be pale. hats/umbrellas/etc to prevent sun exposure.i mean it is fine but i don't think it is a pussy to not want to look wrinkly and old and/or get skin cancer. especially with my skin type - fair and freckly/moley [Edited on July 28, 2009 at 10:13 PM. Reason : .]
7/28/2009 10:12:45 PM
I don't sunburn, so I don't wear sunscreen either...
7/28/2009 10:13:33 PM
just caring enough to hope they get cancer is caring too much
7/28/2009 10:13:35 PM
It's not just limited to this. This notion called "consequences". It's foreign to too many people.
7/28/2009 10:15:05 PM
not to mention its cynical as fuck.^^[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 10:15 PM. Reason : .]
^^there you go caring too much againit simply doesn't affect you.
7/28/2009 10:16:13 PM
7/28/2009 10:17:53 PM
i dont know what the figure for skin cancer is, but i know ppl like ambrosia account for about 10% of all healthcare costs. food for thought.[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 10:18 PM. Reason : damn, she beat me to it lol]
7/28/2009 10:18:37 PM
in a tanning bed yea but his question specifically asked the difference between outdoor tanning and being outside with a shirt off while doing yardwork or some other shit
7/28/2009 10:20:04 PM
^ Or playing a spot of Croquet or something.
7/28/2009 10:21:12 PM
7/28/2009 10:23:33 PM
yeah, y'all are right, it increases your healthcare costs and health insurance rates and taxes through medicare/medicaid[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 10:27 PM. Reason : maybe the gubment should outlaw tanning]
7/28/2009 10:27:25 PM
^^well you post a link to a news story that says that, and then i'll post a link to the news story i'm talking about
7/28/2009 10:28:49 PM
^^Hell no. Fuck the nanny state.
7/28/2009 10:33:38 PM
well what do you suggest?
7/28/2009 10:34:34 PM
all cancers cost 93 billion a year. obesity is 147 billion per year. out of all those cancers, lets say skin is like 1/3 of that? so about 30 billion a year, versus almost 150 billion a year for obesity. just saying. and that 1/3 number is probably waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay higher than what the skin cancer number actually is.
7/28/2009 10:35:58 PM
7/28/2009 10:36:38 PM
so you're worried over a problem to which there really isn't much you can do?
7/28/2009 10:38:57 PM
