you know, this was a lot more tame than i thought. I didn't read too many reviews about it before i picked it up, but based on the bottle, DFH website, and the description i was expecting something a little more exotic. But really...it's a decent beer, kind of a spin on a belgian. not worth the 14 dollar DFH bomber price that accompanies it.

^^^I see you're liking the Troegs stuff

^^I haven't been a fan of the DFH historic beers, Theobroma was the best/most interesting but none of them are worth dropping $13 on IMO.

I've got some good stuff queued up for the weekend: Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut-down Ale, Lagunitas WTF, Sweetwater Road Trip, Harpoon Single Hop ESB, Mother Earth Triple Over Head, etc.

why yes, yes i am.

the pils is a bit boring though.

however, a troegs bottle last week nearly too my hand off

well not realy

was opening the bottle using one of those long handle bottle openers, the entire top lip came off the bottle, and a finger got impaled on the top of the neck

two pretty righteous cuts, tons of blood,

this is one of the cuts 6 days later

ahah

Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut-down Ale

let me know how that is. I was going to pick some up last weekend, but i have been on a Lagunitas kick lately with Hairy Eyeball, WTF, and Little Somethin' Extra so i went in another direction.

holy fuck, that's crazy...never had that happen before. Also, your injury looks like a smiley face.

^I liked it, but honestly the hoppy Lagunitas beers all kind of run together...it tasted like a more attenuated (and thus less sweet) version of Brown Shugga.

Oskar Blues Gordon, Old Hickory Hefe (like the local stuff). Went to Liberty to have a Deep River Wheat...Out...IPA out...unacceptable. Their Debean Expresso Stout was excellent.

jumped on some more mainstream crafts over the weekend. Just wanted some good session beers that i could drink multiples of while i was around the house.

Sierra Nevada Kellerweis is probably my new favorite hefeweizen at the moment. as i told ^, it's like nectar going down.

and New Belgium Ranger IPA. New Belgium, like SN seems to get a lot of flack or looked over completely because they are on the large end of the craft scene, but damn if they didn't make a consistently smooth, pleasently hoppy IPA. yeah it's not a big DIPA everyone raves about, but I can drink 6 of these and not kill my pallate which is what i wanted.

Sampled through some Duck Rabbit stuff today for ideas on a local line at work.

As I am not a huge fan of Duck Rabbit normally, I was surprised by the Porter in particular and the Brown Ale... As a result, we put the Brown Ale on tap (just better for the season)

The Duck Rabbit Porter is my favorite porter in a longggggg time (coming from a hopfan fyi)

speaking of summer seasonals what are some good ones?

so far i've only tried the brooklyn summer ale. which was delish

i tried the magic hat vinyl lager (spring) and liked

the sweetwater spring beer just tasted like nothing - so it wasn't bad i just wasn't amazed.

gimme those delicious summer beers, please

I like this stuff, but it's kind of divisive

Bell's Oberon is pretty good.

Sierra Nevada Kellerweis is a year round beer but it's wonderful for summertime.

Big Boss Blanco Diablo is another one i'm really enjoying this summer.

It depends on what you like. A lot of breweries lean more towards pilsners for their summer beers which are light and refreshing but don't have the huge taste explosion some people seem to expect out of every craft beer. And others lean more towards the weiss or wit styles for summer.

Filled up a growler of Coast Belafonte Beligan Style Pale Ale. Should finish it pretty soon. Gonna take a small break and drink one of these with a late night dinner:

Really excited about this one. Was my favorite beer last year. Had it on tap at a bar I worked at.

very tasty, but a little overboard on the bitterness even for a west coast IPA.
