Whose house is that? The bathrooms are reminiscent of the RBC Center.
And I'm not gonna spend 1.3 Mill on a house where you can see 4 neighbors and you are 50 yards form a highway. 7/31/2009 9:35:42 AM |

but if i won the powerball lottery, i wouldn't buy anything that over the top
and if i was going to spend $1.2 million on a house, that is not at all what I'd buy. 7/31/2009 9:38:45 AM |

It's huge and has some awesome amenities, but there is nothing "homey" about that house.
looks and feels like commercial office space. that's probably why it's been reduced so much. and the upkeep for all that crap has to be ridiculous.

who wants stalls in their bathroom at home?? that house is weird.
and yeah it looks too much like a commercial building from the outside. several of the interior "features" look rather commercial/doctor's office-y too. 7/31/2009 9:52:31 AM |

People who want to show off. Same reason when you drive down 70 to the coast you pass those two big ass houses on the lake that you could hit with a rock from the highway. Land is cheap and plentiful in eastern NC. You're a fool if you spend that much loot and don't get privacy.
Some of the colors are ok, but that green carpet needed to go a decade ago. The orangish reds and pinkish reds paired with gray look like crap, although that may be a trick of the camera.
And where the fuck is the pool? If it has one I don't see it in the pics. How are you going to have a baller house like that, in Eastern NC, and not have a baller pool to go with it?7/31/2009 10:05:32 AM |

Not a fan. The finishes don't look high end, the decor is dated, and the house doesn't feel homey in the slightest. The outside looks like the designer saw the governor's mansion and then tried to do a halfhearted modern take on it. And it does bear a passing resemblance to the RBC center, both in the odd bathroom colors and the steel cable railings on that green hallway/walkway. 7/31/2009 10:22:57 AM |

If I had $1.3 million to spend on a house, I'd have a 3 car garage ground level. 2 spots dedicated to cars, the 3rd "spot" is actually a ramp to a ~10 car garage below ground... In the game room, the floor would be make of tempered glass (or something sturdy and clear) so you can see all my cars in the garage below. Yeah, the house would be 2 stories. 1 Ground level, 1 underground level. ~1,700sq ft each level, not including garages. Totally badass setup imo.
Oh yeah, I'd also have a bomb shelter that can support up to 10 people for about a year in case we have to go into hiding. There will be enough diesel so we can have lan parties everyday
Okay, so the bomb shelter is bogus (well mostly, I would like to have some kind of emergency shelter about 2 stories below for safety).

Ugh, looks like Tony Soprano's house if he moved to Wilson.
More money than taste is an all-too-common problem. Definitely a very '90s house, not only with respect to its decorative style but also due to the way it showcases the extravagance of that prosperous era. I can definitely envision it as a house built by someone who made it big in the late '90s dot-com boom. I appreciate it ironically but would never want to live there with all that tacky decor.
People who buy ostentatious houses that cover almost the entire plot of land aren't interested in privacy, because if the house is private, no one can see how much money you spent on all your shit. They want to show off their buying power because they have little else to feel good about. Kind of like the people who bought the little 1940s house next door to my parents, tore it down, and built a 3-story 10,000 square foot behemoth.
LOL at the ancient rear-projection TV. People with that much money should have gotten a flat screen years ago.
