around the nc state area I've seen cops pulling people with a new white unmarked pontiac, just a heads up. didn't look like speed enforcement so I suspect they are looking for dui's or are ale.

the chances of someone running from a cop close to campus are slim to none. thats why campus police have impalas
7/31/2009 2:24:26 PM
where did anyone talk about running from the cops?
7/31/2009 2:26:20 PM

I think you might be right about ALE.ALE pulled me in a white Pontiac about 2 years ago... but I doubt it's the same car. And it was BULLSHIT, too. [words]I pull into the gas station up near Ivy Chase Campus Edge and go in to buy some beer. I'd lived there for like 2 years, so the attendants knew me, and I didn't get carded. When I came out to go to my car, this creepy looking dude in a leather jacket by a white Pontiac stares me down as I walk to the car. Of course, I pick up the pace, wondering if this guy is gonna rape/maim/kill me. I get in the car as fast as possible and speed off, and he follows me down Gorman to the Food Lion and into the parking lot. Then he flips on his little blue dash light. I'm terrified, and pull up to the front by the store so if anyone sees me get mugged by this fake cop I can at least have a witness. I crack my window when he comes up, but then he flashes a badge. He tells me I am acting very suspiciously and asks why I hurried so fast to the car and sped away. I told him it was because he was a creepy mother fucker (not in those words) and scared me. When he told me he was ALE, I was pissed. If he had just asked me for my ID at the gas station it would have saved a lot of effort. [/words]cliffs notes: cops suck

dakota_man has a more BS story. He went to the store to buy beer and came back and they gave him a ticket because his roommate was underage. That's not illegal. There have also been a few users that have gotten tickets for buying beer and a grocery store and then getting back into their car with people who are underage. Tell me what law that breaks? You have to be 21 to be in the general vicinity of alcohol?
7/31/2009 5:08:54 PM
#1 rule when talking to ALE/ABC officers is:KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT

^can someone find the law related to this? I would be curious it actually states as far as people being near you, etc. (I'll google but if u know where to look it'd be helpful)

Shit, I thought this was about:

i guess it's along the same rules as possession of narcotics. If you're in the car and you get pulled over for speeding and the cop finds pot on your buddy, everyone in the car could go to jail.Saw it on cops last night.
7/31/2009 5:57:05 PM
^^^i'm sure you could go to court with it and have a chance of winning, but it wouldn't be worth it beyond "the principle of the matter"[Edited on July 31, 2009 at 5:57 PM. Reason : fads]

^^ But narcotics are illegal for anyone to have, alcohol is not.I should tell my dad all those times we went to a family reunion or something with beer in the cooler he was in danger of being ticketed, me being under age and all.[Edited on July 31, 2009 at 6:59 PM. Reason : [.][.]

I went to Food Lion with my buddy (both of us over 21) and bought a 12 pack of corona extra and one of those 20 packs of coron-ita extra (smaller 8 oz. bottles). Had somebody in the car that was underage. ALE followed us all the way back to my house and pulled in the driveway. He tried to say that since we bought 2 different kinds of beer it was criminal, and we pretty much chewed him out and said they were the same exact beer just in different sized containers and he was all bitchy and shit but couldn't do anything legally so he left. the law is that they have to see money exchanged between the underage and the person buying the alcohol or somebody has to admit it. There is no law saying that you can't be in the presence of alcohol underage but you can't make any exchanges, that's the key. unless the underage person has alcohol on their breath, then its another story.
7/31/2009 7:09:00 PM
you chewed him out??thats kinda gay
7/31/2009 7:10:31 PM
all the ALE officer has to do is scare the underage person into saying something that makes their case, so just tell your friends to shut the hell up
