I'm guessing it would help but it sounds like they're writing in a way that would just be an updated version of the original. I don't like that the light bikes can be stopped and started tho. Wasn't the whole point that once the light bike was created you had to ride it until the game was over?

I think he just turned the color off and on. Not so much turning the bike on and off. Like turning off the steamer left behind you.

Not to be a nitpicky nerd, but that was only when they were playing the Lightcycle Game. Then they escaped and drove the lightcycles wherever they wanted, turning em on and off at will. Right? It's been a while...

I will admit that the coolest part was when they were playing the actual game. This almost makes me want to re-download ArmageTron. It was a perfect recreation of the lightcycle game, you could even play in first person (and inevitably crash).

^^Check out Tron 2.0, a game for the PC. It's fairly old now. You'd have to have a pretty sad computer not to be able to run it... maybe if it didn't have a dedicated video card?

But as far as lightcycle games go, I can't imagine anything better than Armagetron. It's got online multiplayer, great graphics, you can download a graphics pack that makes it look exactly like the movie. And it's free.

^It's pretty dated, but if you saw it as a kid you'll probably appreciate it for the nostalgia. I just watched it last weekend and then fired up Armagetron for some light cycle gaming.

I don't blame Disney for (supposedly) limiting the copies of Tron that are out before Legacy hits... I can see a lot of people who never saw the original renting the DVD and deciding not to go see the new one when they hear lines like "Who does he calculate he is?"

They could release a trailer showing the worst shit possible right now and I'd still be too excited to see it to even care.

This is not something I can write off until I've actually given it a chance. I won't do that to Tron.

I want it to be good.

But its really only going to impress me if there isn't any bad acting or anything out of place. The CG stuff is just window dressing.

For example:

1) Those 4 chicks dressed in white. They remove his clothes and put the "Tron Suit" on him. When they walk up to him, they have there arms cocked back and they walk in a jerky fashion like the tin man. Then they do the same thing when they walk away.

Why the hell is that even necessary? Doesnt everyone in the Tron universe walk like a normal human being?

2) The young CG Jeff Bridges is guaranteed to disappoint visually.

3) The more they throw in actual acting scenes in the newer trailers, the more it seems to be going down the path of Episode 1.

And these things are just what I noticed from a 2 minute trailer.



But I am sure it will be fun to watch.

1) Yeah don't know what that was about, I guess it was just their attempt at being artsy.

2) I haven't noticed anything terrible in the trailers, but I didn't watch them in HD.

3) Maybe, who knows but after watching all the available clips Episode 1 was the furthest thing from my mind. Basically what ^^ said.

I realize that I'm just setting myself up for disappointment, but I haven't looked forward to a movie like this since the Lord of the Rings movies came out.

I wasn't impressed by the Wii videos I've seen. I can only hope the PC version is much, much better.

Edit: Another thing I was surprised about was just how bad the game looked. Memory is hard to rely on, but I think Tron 2.0, which came out in 2003, had better visuals. I guess they're completely different styles though.
