Just ordered this tach with a shift light yesterday. This particular one I think has alot of useful features, some of which I am going to have to figure out as I go. Question is, in the install instructions it lists a couple of ways to run the blue wire. Not really sure what this is for? Guess is you flip the switch to arm, letting off the footbrake starts the playback recorder?
This particular one also has a launch lite, does arming it signal to enable it or is it one of those things that just stays on all the time?

Maybe not, but figured basic one with a shift light that matched the gauges I already had was $220, only $70 more for this one with alot more capability. I could also see it being very beneficial after each run to see where I shifted at.

i thought you were doing a 5 speed? if so most cam set ups only make power till 5500-5600 rpm thats when you shift. and thats what the shift lite is for. $70 more for a feature you arent going to use, kinda seems like a little over kill on a budget build. the instructions are pretty strait forward though for the most part 8/5/2009 9:13:43 AM |

^Ill conceed it likely is a bit overkill, but its nothing crazy and a pretty slick tool.
If im trying to squeeze every last 1/10th out of it, being able to go back and take my timeslip and look at the tach and say, well i short shifted 200rpm, or over-reved it for .01 sec I think will help. Plus just from recording the tach I should be able to see clearly where the power band is as the engine is continuously modified. Might save some trips to the dyno.
