Wrong again, NCSU is a land grant university and thus will always have Agriculture as a major part of the university, and agriculture and redneck go hand in hand.

NCSU has very few rednecks that go here. Yes, we have farmers, hunters, outdoorsmen, country boys and country girls but very few rednecks. A redneck lives in a trailer and mooches off of welfare, he doesn't go to a Div. 1 University. NC State is a top agriculture and forestry school, with that comes camo, carhartt, big trucks, fine women and fun down to earth people. If you don't like that, go to Carolina and lube up your asshole.

Fine, denigrate your school as a "redneck" school. People from ECU used to celebrate the "party school" moniker until they got out into the real world and it made it more difficult to get higher paying jobs or be taken seriously in a professional context. We probably have more international students than self ascribed "rednecks" here anyway.

I have no problem with NC State being a redneck/countrified school and I had no problem finding my "higher" paid job or with people taking me seriously as a professional.

Perhaps, if you think people won't take you seriously as a professional because you got your degree from State, you should reevaluate which particular major you're getting a degree in or GTFO.

NC State is the largest university in the state, of course it has aspects of almost all cultures & opinions found in the state represented here, that is a part of why it is such a great school.

here is my opinion on the whole country/redneck/white trash thing

country folks are just from the country and it's evident in their actions

rednecks are simply very unsophisticated folks

white trash folks live in junky houses or trailers, are often on welfare, don't have steady jobs, etc.


i consider myself to be a redneck from the country and i don't think it's a bad thing.
