I have a TomTom that's like 4 years old. It works great. My brother has a Garmin Nuvi, which costs SO much more. I would recommend the TomTom--the only feature the Garmin has that the TomTom doesn't is providing phone numbers for businesses... 8/12/2009 12:08:26 AM |

i have an HP Travel Companion for sale. It has GPS with TomTom software, as well as Windows Mobile, WiFi, Bluetooth, and PDA functions (as well as some travel specific stuff, like currency converters, time zone stuff, etc)

i got a garmin nuvi for christmas last year and while i love it...it has taken me down the wrong way a couple times and has also lead me to nowhere. you also have to keep in mind that older models won't pick up new construction so if you're looking for a good one, i would just buy one brand new unless you want to spend money on upgrading the maps. i'm not sure how much that costs, though. 8/13/2009 10:30:15 PM |

I've been happiest with the Sony. Just seems to be a little more user friendly than some of the others. The older firmware was slow but if you pick one of those up it's easy to update. My only complaint is the map data is slow to come out...
Anyway you can find refurbs for cheap even directly from SonyStyle... sure you could get one cheaper. 8/13/2009 11:21:04 PM |

lol don't buy a sony ,they have , cluttered, slow interfaces. lots of companies including sony,lg,cobra etc. started makin gps only to fail miserably.once that happens they stop, leaving you with a device you cant map updates for.stick with the big 3 for a gps (garmin ,tom tom, magellan). i say get a garmin simply for their ease of use 8/15/2009 3:20:04 AM |

Get a Garmin. Don't bother with anything else.
And don't even try Magellan. The interface is ridiculous, wanting to look flashy over getting to your destination safely and easily.
