BB&T now has a thing for mexican folks where they can send a card kinda like a debit card to their family in mexico and then the dude here in the US just has to go put money into the account and it's instantly available for the folks w/ the card in mexico

It's ridiculous. Same thing with MoneyGram. International wires/transfers are cheaper.....wtf?!?

i've never had to deal with sending money across international borders, so forgive my ignorance. but what prevents you from just depositing/transferring the cash to a bank account of their choice? seems like wire transfers are needlessly costly and complicated (or i just don't understand the process), except maybe for business transactions.[Edited on August 14, 2009 at 9:44 PM. ^ I think it's the same principle as using your credit card in another country. They lock that junk down until you call and tell them whats up. Too much hassle.
