I imagine a work-around will be found...maybe standard tobacco + flavor added at the hookah?

And there's always smuggling

what about smokeless tobacco like skoal and whatnot? the flavored varieties are very popular from what I understand. (i've only used the stuff 2 times in my entire life, and both times they tasted minty or some other similar flavor)

Menthol Cigarettes?
Pipe Tobacco?
Black and Milds?

Also, there are many people who prefer the lighter "taste" of light cigarattes... yet obama wants to ban that word from the packaging? god what a fucking moron.

I'm not a tobacco user for the most part, but dammit if I want to chew tobacco or smoke a pipe, i should damn well be able to without the fucking federal government telling me i can't.

Yeah I'm wondering if there are people who are actually retarded enough to think "mild" means "better for you." I always thought that was referring to the taste of the cigarette.

Fucking bullshit. Not sure where the Federal Government has the power to regulate tobacco. Fuck you overly broad interpreters of the Commerce Clause.

One possible answer? They do not care if they die? Maybe, just maybe, they see the fact that 75 percent of Black Smokers smoke Menthol is a good thing?"

The funny things is, as much as smokers complain about taxes, it's still not enough to make them stop smoking.

THEY RAISE TAXES ON IT BECAUSE YALL ARE FUCKING ADDICTED.

Provisions:

Quote :
"Bans the use of flavors in cigarettes (including cloves, cinnamon, candy and fruit flavors), with the initial exception of menthol cigarettes, the most popular cigarette flavor. The exemption was reportedly influenced by the Congressional Black Caucus and Philip Morris USA, which supported the bill."

Bans the use of flavors IN CIGARETTES. Doesn't sound like it applies to loose tobacco, pipe tobacco, dip, etc. etc. Maybe not even cigars, though depends on how broad of a definition of cigarettes they use.

The legislation as a whole. I don't think we can say whether or not that provision imust be applied equally, though perhaps I displayed too much certainty in my previous post.

This bill is finally a step in the right direction of American governmental power. Too long people have had the ability to fuck up their lives and the lives of the others around them using senselessly dangerous products. A+++

The law is 84 pages long. It is public law 111-31. I have no fucking clue how anyone could read through the whole damn thing and know everything contained within its margins. The flavoring additives part of the law applies to cigarettes alone. However, cigarettes are defined as:
Quote :
"‘‘(3) CIGARETTE.—The term ‘cigarette’—
‘‘(A) means a product that—
‘‘(i) is a tobacco product; and
‘‘(ii) meets the definition of the term ‘cigarette’
in section 3(1) of the Federal Cigarette Labeling and
Advertising Act; and
‘‘(B) includes tobacco, in any form, that is functional
in the product, which, because of its appearance, the type
of tobacco used in the filler, or its packaging and labeling,
is likely to be offered to, or purchased by, consumers as
a cigarette or as roll-your-own tobacco."

I believe this says that you can still have flavored tobacco for pipes and hookah because cigarettes are things that contain the tobacco or are marketed as cigarettes and therefore isn't the tobacco itself. The law prohibits the Secretary of the FDA from prohibiting tobacco as well as requiring no nicotine, but has otherwise fairly lax rules.
