Now I think about tube amplifiers and a nuclear apocalypse. However, I'm a nice guy:Holy crap, that's a 78 in "The best things in life are free" isn't it? I thought they were supposed to sound shitty.]

thanks man! and yeah I remember when I first installed Fallout 3, I was pleasantly surprised with their choice of music

What happened to music, you know?

I think money happened to it. It's still out there, you just have to find the people that are in it for the right reasons. And I didn't see your line at the end, that is a 78 indeed. Vinyls as we know them (33s and 45s) werent introduced really until the late 40s and 50s, all the older 78s and high-rpm records were shellac. I don't think 78s sound worse intrinsically, it was more a function of the durability of the material and the quality of the recordings afforded at the time

I never knew about them before, but they do have good music. I have a few old used 33's that go pretty far back, I think one might even be flat-cut.

their song 'Maybe' was the theme to the first Fallout
