I can't believe Cheney would ever admit this stuff. He is pure fucking evil. I can't imagine any other VP in history with as much hubris as this son of a bitch.

Quote : | ""In the second term, he felt Bush was moving away from him," said a participant in the recent gathering, describing Cheney's reply. "He said Bush was shackled by the public reaction and the criticism he took. Bush was more malleable to that. The implication was that Bush had gone soft on him, or rather Bush had hardened against Cheney's advice. He'd showed an independence that Cheney didn't see coming. It was clear that Cheney's doctrine was cast-iron strength at all times — never apologize, never explain — and Bush moved toward the conciliatory."" |

I always thought it would be interesting to replay the Bush presidency without Cheney as VP (and without Rumsfield too probably) 8/13/2009 4:45:13 PM |

Don't forget Ashcroft. Actually... Bush's entire Cabinet seems like it was pretty much selected by Cheney. His Presidency would have been drastically different had the people around him been changed (which could be said about any President.)
Anyway, the article says Cheney's memoirs are going to be published in 2011. I'm very interested to see exactly how fucked up his worldview is. 8/13/2009 4:49:22 PM |

what's fucked up is that Ashcroft wound up looking like a fairy godmother once history showed his actions juxtaposed against his successor, Alberto Gonzalez.
Cheney may wind up riding behind 200 years of precedent protecting the chief executive, but Gonzalez isn't above the law. Him and Rummy both really need to do some prison time.
EDIT: holy shit! look who's back! It's you!!!! ^

unfortunately we're still dealing with the fallout of the actions taken by that administration.
actions of dubious morality and questionable legality, in many cases. 8/13/2009 6:55:35 PM |

it will be interesting to see how long those excuses are used.
and FWIW i'm not even close to saying everything the two did was correct and wonderful. my point is eventually, the current administration has to start taking some blame for the mess we're in.

many could easily say the same about the current administration.

^^^ WTF are you babbling about? Obama not only supports rendition, he has expanded it:
Target Of Obama-Era Rendition Alleges Torture

^^ The change of a presidential administration in a national election is hardly comparable to taking a whimsical look at "yesterday." God damn, you're an idiot.
