or not necessarily pills, but more compact ways of getting all of your nutrientssometimes I just get tired of eating in general, and all of the thought and planning (and preparation) and stuff that can possibly go into itplus, something like this could be revolutionary in that it could get rid of obesity and perhaps overweight people altogetherI know I'm not the first person by any means to have thoughts like thisI'm just ignorant of news, generally, and wanted to see if there had been any advances in technologywater/liquid is not a problem imo - it's just food that causes complications, it seems
8/16/2009 9:25:18 PM
you mean like a vitamin?
8/16/2009 9:28:07 PM
I didn't know you could live off of vitaminsthank you Ronny, for showing me the light
8/16/2009 9:29:00 PM
should I make the joke about your weight and then quote "sometimes I just get tired of eating in general" now? or should I wait a bit?
8/16/2009 9:29:43 PM
you don't weigh any less than I doand if so, not by much ]
8/16/2009 9:30:12 PM
like the jetsons or something?
8/16/2009 9:30:18 PM
did the jetsons have that?I never particularly liked the Jetsonsflintstones now, that's where it's at
8/16/2009 9:30:41 PM
8/16/2009 9:30:42 PM
is this dude fat, IRL?never met him
8/16/2009 9:31:00 PM
but that bar is still foodand I still have to taste itI want to kind of bypass the whole taste thing, when and if I choose itI'm not saying I would want all food to be in pill/vitamin/compact formjust for when I didn't feel like eating^I'm 5'11" and 200 lbs, so draw your own conclusions from that ]
8/16/2009 9:31:33 PM
oh, I don't know. I might weigh more. I'm at about 6'2, 197 lbs now...but all the weight is in my ballsthey're hugevery very large
8/16/2009 9:31:53 PM
i doubt this will happen. i imagine it's pretty hard to pack enough calories into something that small.plus, patients who go on total parenteral nutrition (nutrition through an IV) develop all sorts of problems long-term because they're not using their gut.
8/16/2009 9:32:06 PM
well I'm definitely more overweight than you thenI didn't realize you were tallernor a balleror did I?^ohh I gotcha ]
8/16/2009 9:32:29 PM
i think pemmican bars are as far as they've come when it comes to food compression. one 2"x3" bar has like 900 calories and 100% of protein and stuff.
8/16/2009 9:32:50 PM
900 calories is massiveis that supposed to be your one meal a day?
8/16/2009 9:33:18 PM
BubbleBobble, I feel as if you and I should bury the hatchet. This whole thing is silly.
8/16/2009 9:34:14 PM
when i've done extended backpacking trips, we'd do three of those a day sometimes. if you're not hiking for 13 hours a day, though, i imagine one or two would suffice.
8/16/2009 9:34:47 PM
what hatchet? ^are they filling? ]
8/16/2009 9:34:52 PM
anyway, to actually address the topic....other than astronaut food (a very scientific term, I know), I'm not sure what's out there. I would think that pills wouldn't fill out people's stomach, and they would still feel hunger....still feeling like eating
8/16/2009 9:37:07 PM
truly ponderous stuff hereas for not filling out the stomach, it seems like most anything is possibleI mean, like, aspirin covers a very wide area of aches in the body, even though it's so compactI know that's completely different, but in a way it could possibly be similarI don't know what I'm trying to say, really
8/16/2009 9:39:47 PM
^^^they're filling, yet unfulfilling. you don't get hungry, per se (word on the streets is that they expand once they hit your stomach), but it's not like sitting down to a real meal.]
8/16/2009 9:40:09 PM
I guess they might include an appetite suppressant in the pill[Edited on August 16, 2009 at 9:42 PM. Reason : I'm st00pid. Imma stop typing...]
8/16/2009 9:42:29 PM
I mean it's not stupid to make a semi-educated guess on these mattersor even an uneducated onesince I doubt it's even feasible to do what I'm talking about with our current spectrum of knowledge
8/16/2009 9:48:36 PM
Oddly enough, reading skimming this thread has made me quite hungry. For real food, I mean.
8/16/2009 9:49:54 PM
what a dumb thread
8/16/2009 9:52:56 PM
as opposed to a "smart" thread?why do you have to rag on the thread itselfit's not like it did anything to you
8/16/2009 9:53:38 PM
you made this thread
8/16/2009 9:56:12 PM
Think with your dipstick, Jimmy.

I'm going to second what someone said about TPN (total parenteral nutrition) -- it can cause liver, gall bladder, and other problems. You can always go with tube feeding, but it has its own problems. Not only can they become occluded, the boluses can take quite some time. Some people spend 14 hours a day on a continuous feed. When Silas was on a feeding tube, I felt like all I did was tube feed. Not to mention, if you go with something like a nasogastric tube, you have to deal with issues like skin breakdown from adhesives etc.You can always drink your meals. Silas lived off of Strawberry Pediasure for two months straight. And when I was pregnant with him, I lived off of Vanilla Ensure for much of my pregnancy.[Edited on August 16, 2009 at 10:53 PM. get a jack lalanne juicer
8/16/2009 10:54:45 PM
yeah, food is obnoxious, but the problem is also with being hungry. Yeah, I'd bypass food if I could...and if I wouldn't get hungry as well or could drink soemthing/take a pill to make me full.

Santa Claus conquers the martians proves beyond all doubt that foodpills are the way of the futureyou think Droppo would have been such a badass without his broccoli tablets? hell no
8/16/2009 11:07:26 PM
I would hate life if I couldn't eat.
8/16/2009 11:10:00 PM
8/16/2009 11:10:56 PM
I, too, like to eat food.Usually... except when I'm in a hurry to do something else.
8/16/2009 11:12:26 PM
Good food in powder form. Still need some fat, calories, and protein to live on, but this is a good supplement.
8/16/2009 11:14:14 PM
I'm not saying you couldn't eatI'm just suggesting alternatives to it
