the other day.I am convinced that these festivals are just an excuse for women to dress like whores with their tits hanging out. Also, I got a semi-cool mugAlso, the turkey leg that I ate was deliciousAlso, I ordered a stein of mead, and I got wine instead. I was somewhat upset, because I kind of want to be like BeowulfAlso, why are you still reading this?

I've been to one ren fair before, near Charlotte, it was alright. I'd probably go again with the right group of people. Ran into the NCSU bag pipe group down there performing at the event when I went. Also, I can no longer think of renaissance festivals without thinking of this:

^^ Wow, I figured that a Renaissance festival would make the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City look like the streets of Mogadishu, haha[Edited on August 16, 2009 at 11:28 PM. Reason : I mean, I'm caucasian, but those things are full of white people.]
8/16/2009 11:27:51 PM
i fucking love renaissance festivals!
8/16/2009 11:29:48 PM
in theory, i like the idea of these festivals, pounding back fermented this-and-thats and cooking animals over fires and only barely containing the human urge to kill your fellow man with clubs. but in practice they seem stuffed to the gills with smug liberal arts majors half of who are probably doing their theses on how cavemen ate tofu because bean curds dont have feelings, and the other half is probably getting their "Why beans have feelings" paper published in "Artfag" magazine
8/16/2009 11:33:14 PM
^I would think the D&D geek would be the type of geek with a much greater encounter chance than the art the major. They certainly sell plenty of weapons at those from my experience (having been to only 1).
8/16/2009 11:42:26 PM
see, they get a lot of flak, but they tend to be good folks. except for froshkiller
8/16/2009 11:51:04 PM
I went to one of these on a field trip when I was in middle school. The best thing I remember was giant hobby horse, almost 30 feet tall, with five guys rocking it while people rode on it. Now that was cool.
