Werewolf transformation scene from An American Werewolf in London. This movie was made back in 1980 waaaaay before the days of CGI. Everything is done with make up and it still looks absolutely amazing (and a hell of a lot better than the transformation scenes in Underworld or any other recent werewolf movie). Check it out:

One of them is the Esteban Vihaio scene in Kill Bill: Volume 2:
Quote : | "I remember when Bill was only five years old; I took him to the movies. It was a movie starring Lana Turner: The Postman Always Rings Twice with John Garfield. And whenever she would appear on the screen, Bill would begin compulsively to suck his thumb to an obscene amount. And I knew from this very moment this boy was a fool for blondes." |

one of the best ever, surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet:
-Star Wars Episode Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Luke's duel with Vader which ends in Vader severing Luke's right hand followed by Vader telling Luke that he is his father. Offers him a chance to "rule the galaxy as father and son" before Luke jumps/drops down that thing after refusing the offer.
Has to be one of the biggest twists in movie history, especially back when spoilers weren't as available via the internet 8/18/2009 8:29:45 AM |

Great flick all around. I like Ricky Roma's monologue to Lingk:
Quote : | "All train compartments smell vaguely of shit. It gets so you don't mind it. That's the worst thing that I can confess. You know how long it took me to get there? A long time. When you die you're going to regret the things you don't do. You think you're queer? I'm going to tell you something: We're all queer. You think you're a thief? So what? You get befuddled by a middle-class morality? Get shut of it. Shut it out. You cheat on your wife? You did it, live with it. You fuck little girls, so be it. There's an absolute morality? Maybe. And then what? If you think there is, go ahead, be that thing. Bad people go to hell? I don't think so. If you think that, act that way. A hell exists on earth? Yes. I won't live in it. That's me.
You ever take a dump made you feel like you'd just slept for twelve hours?" |
Let me add Kurtz over the radio in Apocalypse Now:
Quote : | "I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream. That's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight...razor...and surviving." |
I love the scene in Big Trouble in Little China when Jack, after having lost his truck, learns just what he's gotten himself into with Lo Pan while he's on the phone with his insurance company. "The Chinese have a lot of Hells." That entire movie is fantastic.
How have we gotten this far in the thread without anyone mentioning the President's speech from Independence Day?8/18/2009 8:33:52 AM |

- (Agreed w/ LK) Wall-E and Eve dancing around together and when Eve finds the security tape - Ursula singing "Poor Unfortunate Souls" - "THEY SPEAK ENGLISH IN WHAT?!", the dancing scene, and the adrenaline shot scene in Pulp Fiction - the last part of Sin City where the hookers go crazy on the people in the street - Spicoli and Jefferson's little bro crashing the car in Fast Times at Ridgemont High ... "my old man's a TV repair man - I can fix it." haha - the car chase in Death Proof - a lot of random kung fu fights - the kissing scene at the party from The Girl Next Door - when Harry and Lloyd sing "Mocking Bird" in the van in Dumb and Dumber
I have more but now I'm too lazy to type them out. 8/18/2009 10:19:18 AM |

I love the scene in Shaun of the Dead where they first find the zombie in the back yard and start throwing things at it. The scene was funny but it also probably exactly what most of us would do if we found a zombie in our back yard and were still not sure what was going on. 8/18/2009 2:33:48 PM |

The Meaning of Life - "Every Sperm is Sacred" scene Grandma's Boy - ...I can't pick just one. The party scene, any scene where they make fun of JP, the health restaurant scene... Pineapple Express - woods scene where they freak out about the phones, opening scene with Bill Hader... Wet Hot American Summer - opening scene where Janeane Garafolo just doesn't give a fuck that all the boys are in the girls' cabins, going to town scene, softball game scene...
I guess this pretty much gives you an idea of the kind of movies I like...
