^^ and there are tons more, far worse, tapes from The Apprentice that have been repressed still.

Plus, Trump has said far worse on Stern over the years. FFS he admitted he wanted to abort Tiffany.

This is such a duzy because in addition to all of the chaos, trump is personally in a position where his hands are tied because he didn't drop out last year AND he was behind strange. If they pull this off, I won't hesitate to call it a genius move by the WAPO.

[Edited on November 16, 2017 at 1:15 AM. Reason : its definitely clever, but i don't think its genius because people are on to it]

[Edited on November 16, 2017 at 1:17 AM. Reason : WAPO gave him 2 options, be a hypocrit or a monster]

^^Hypocrisy is perfectly acceptable in politics so I'm surprised he accepted "monster." Bush/Trump examples below (I am certain there are some on Clinton, etc., but I came across these while viewing other shit so it was easiest to post these):

Now they are saying they should elect him, swear him in, and then expel him. This is analogous to the idea behind the delayed suspension from the MLB after the racist gesture during the world series. They released a statement that said something like "We shouldn't penalize the rest of the team and make them lose the world series just because of one guy, so we will differ the punishment until later"

So in that case who would step in? A special runoff for a Republican replacement since Moore 'won'? Seems like that's some shifty shit there, but that's par for the course.

There's talk of trying to move Sessions back into the seat which allows Trump to effectively get rid of him without the media storm of a firing and likely guarantees the seat stays Republican.

So yes - likely another republican until another special election.

There was a series of robocalls using an anti-Semitic fake name ("Bernie Bernstein" and voice imitation) saying he's a Washington Post reporter offering $5000 to woman who would go on record accusing Moore. Clearly an attempt by Moore supporters to discredit the other allegations. This is the most infuriating things I have ever seen in politics. Congrats Trump, you're no longer the thing about Republican supporters I hate most.

That is the type of shit that pushes us closer to war, whether internally or externally if the guys writing these laws can find a bigger external enemy to scare us into fighting.

The graphics being shown on CNN and other networks are just as gimmicky as the tax plan itself. For example, they assume the mandate will result in that many people uninsured and then automatically roll the lack of subsidies in as a "tax increase on the middle class" just so they can say taxes are going up.

The graphic above says "bad for parents" and then says families with kids get a tax increase as if they are actually going to be increasing taxes on people for claiming kids.

I don't know where to go for honest details.

Let's also not forget that all this happening because 5 or 6 billionaires are threatening to stop funding the campaigns of congressional Republicans if they don't vote for this. Also, the CBO only really estimates the direct effects these laws will have on the budget, taxes, and number of insured. They don't even attempt to investigate what the ripple effects will be to the economy at large and the healthcare industry. We're likely looking at the total collapse of healthcare and insurance markets followed by, if we're lucky, another recession. It could be far worse than that.

The wealthy are so goddamned stupid it amazes me. They are literally creating the conditions that will ensure their downfall at some point in the future.

I will never understand it. You can literally have both - you can continue being wealthy AND structure society and taxes in a way that keeps everyone happy and peaceful.

Instead they are going to continue funding campaigns to put politicians in office who will then steal more money from the lower and middle class by increasing taxes while funneling it to the wealthy but cutting their taxes while simultaneously cutting government spending (except for the military because that government spending is what allows the wealthy to take money from other countries).

There is no such thing as a fair tax system. One party will always be disproportionately affected. There is a way, however, to have a stable tax system.

You know what the best period of growth for the middle class was in the last 100 years? It was when the wealthy were taxed at 90%. And guess what - they remained wealthy and the American economy went insane. It's why Henry Ford gave his employees raises and created the two day weekend break from work. Suddenly his employees could now participate in the economy.

A rising tide lifts all boats. But everyone has to have a boat for that to work. Otherwise the rising tide just turns into a bunch of people drowning.

Kellyanne Conway values passing tax reform over accountability for being a child sex predator.

Kellyann has a point.

if we were on the cusp of passing something i think is important (public healthcare, for example) there isn't any allegation that would make me risk losing a vote unless it was a conviction, on video, or admitted.

Also, people in Alabama see it at the very least as child abuser vs murderer (abortion)

Or perhaps another way of looking at is that if 1 single seat is so important you need to fill it with a pedophile maybe you should consider the drafting of your bill so that it appeals to more people?

Somehow I missed this:

https://ww2.kqed.org/news/2017/11/03/republicans-pass-on-californias-request-for-federal-wildfire-aid/

Only 1 out of 14 GOP members from the California delegation signed onto a letter requesting disaster relief due to the wildfires in the state.

That's where the GOP has taken our partisan divide, refusing to even try to help the people of their own state because.......well I guess I'm not sure why. It either doesn't play into their tax cut game plan or they just slavishly await their cues from the whitehouse on what to do. Sad!

“Like a desalination plant or a requirement that construction work be done by union people,” Alvarez said."

^exactly why party politics is so stupid. you took the bait. they always slide some dealbreaker the other group hates into the bill that was mostly about something everyone should agree on just so they can say "look at how the other party hates the thing everyone should agree on"

Quote :

The goal of legistlature shouldn't be to appeal to as many people as possible. thats how nothing gets done. or meaningless legislation gets passed (democrats).

The goal is to appeal to ENOUGH people to get what you want passed and roll with that. The nation is so divided that no one can afford to lose seats right now.

I would do the same as them if i had the chance. You have to put the direction of the country first.

Everyone is having the wrong discussion and asking the wrong questions. The debate shouldn't be if we care too much about politics but about why such a large amount of people think abortion is murder and how we can better educate them going forward. It doesn't matter what else happens. As long as the perceived choice is republicans vs murderers of tens of thousands of babies, the republicans will be more appealing.

Given the chance to vote for a likely pedophile to advance tax reform that can be reversed as soon as your party loses power is more important to you than not voting for a pedophile? How very enlightened of you

Its not "likely" or there would have been charges filed. Its "possibly" and apparently, congress if full of "possible" sex offenders so why should they give up all of their politics just to "virtue signal" to people like you?

Hypothetically speaking, what would it take for you to vote for someone like this? Would you vote for him if the election of the other guy was sure to lead to 10,000 deaths? I'm just trying to figure out your principals because you left out the abortion part and it seems like you're having trouble understanding where they are coming from.

I'm far left, but I would never criticize people for doing something I would do in their position.

Almost. You vote for the person based on how they will govern, not what type of person they are. Everyone is going to have to some skeletons in their closet.

No rational thinker would vote to elect someone who opposes all of their views over someone who shares all of their views just because some people said they might have done something bad 40 years ago. Get real.
