Lock the bat in a room with an active ceiling fan and an open window.

Sooner or later the fan or the window are gonna end up being the way out for that bat.

Animal control came out, and they said that we have to find the bat and keep it to get it tested for rabies. I tried to get it outside last night... It will not attack the cat, but there is no telling whether or not he came in contact with the bat. I will go downstairs bat hunting in about half hour.

Well don't let your cat or anyone for that matter sleep with the bat in the same room. If they bite you you won't notice until you have rabies.

They usually take them back to the shelter in a tupperware container, then euthanize it and send it to a lab in a special bag.
