Any good marketing book will tell you that to get a consumer reaction you often need about 5 to 7 exposures to an ad. And that you need some sort of time sensitive aspect to promote action.Painting the tunnel & chalking is great because people will pass through there enough to get several of the exposures out of the way, but the tunnel will get re-painted at some point & the it will rain probably sooner than later. Flyering could help, but that requires an invest of time & a small amount of money.Another way to increase exposures is online, especially on a social networking site which already has many "likely participants" as they have already proven themselves interested in online social networking sites. My proposal is that we use the share-link en masse on facebook to get more exposures & draw in some new blood. Adding your own time-limited comment like "join now while all the new people are joining" or "check this site's school tool function out now to learn about your prof's teaching style & grading habits before the drop date" could prove helpful. Then optionally post your facebook page here so people can "like" it or comment on it or whatever to generate more discussion & more views.Of course ending up on the news again some how would probably be the most effective way to get attention, but those opportunities seem to require the perfect confluence of events, creativity, & mischievousness that cannot be generated at will.Anyone have any other ideas to share? Or care to sh*t on this one? Be my guest

not if you link them directly to a cool thread like News 14 Carolina one or a good 9/11 conspiracy soap box thread

i ultimately want to improve the discoverability of threads right here on tdub. it would allow a lot more sophisticated and personalized results than just a one-size-fits all feed to twitter. but i'll do something with it at some point

^^ Combine records of threads clicked with a full-text frequency analysis to develop a personalized Bayesian classifier to recommend enjoyable threads to each user.If you liked "Pick a number between 18-21 (NSFW)", you might enjoy:"Papsmear's Continuous Titty Thread""I got raped`""EPIC MILEY CYRUS SIDEBOOB"
