My sister just bought a Casio CT-630 keyboard today, but it didn't come with an AC adapter. It was working fine this morning while running on the D batteries. She tried plugging in an old AC adapter we had lying around to see if it would work for the keyboard, but it didn't do anything. Since she did that the keyboard has not worked on batteries or the AC adapter we bought at Radioshack. I'm guessing it is toast, but was wondering if there is any way to fix it.

There was no smoke or sign of anything being wrong.

Here is some information on the back of the keyboard.

DC 9.0V Battery: 1.5Vx6 AC Adapter AD-5 - ) +

From the first AC adapter

Input: 120 VAC 60 Hz Output: 10 VAC 1200mA

Unfortunately it was bought at a garage sale, and the lady showed her it worked.

It's probably fried if you plugged a 10VAC adapter into what might be a +5VDC keyboard.

That's about as awesome as when one of our clients plugged a laptop power supply into a firewall they're leasing from us simply because the barrel connector fit. It's ok though, he's a doctor and was clearly capable of troubleshooting electronics.

Hey, lay off the guy.

"His sister" fried it, not him.

I'd probably crack it open and look at the board for anything that seems fucked up. It may just be a fuse or something that is blown that you may (or may not) be able to find and replace for cheap. Even if it is FUBAR, opening it up and taking a look won't hurt anything (more than it already is).
