My dad keeps saying that the licensed dangler has the right of way, meaning if I'm fishing and a swimmer gets in the way and I accidently hook them then they can't hold me accountable for it and I won't get in trouble...is this true? I looked it up but I can't find anything that says one way or the other.

angler? wtf
8/21/2009 3:44:05 PM
your dad is a funny guy
8/21/2009 3:44:26 PM
my dad is weird...and he kept saying dangler...so I don't know if he is trying to pull a fast one on me or not....I already feel dumb enough for having to come to tww for this....but I didn't know where else to look. Please don't make too much fun of me for asking this question.

Yeah, your dad owned you. You should probably log off in shame and not come back until Monday to save face.
8/21/2009 3:51:07 PM
maybe he was saying "da angler"?
8/21/2009 3:51:20 PM
He was probably running the "D" at the end of licensed into the "angler" (or fisherman)... I just keep thinking about a booger in someone's nose hanging out like "DUDE! I'm licensed! I have the right of way!"
8/21/2009 3:52:12 PM
I mean I guess technically it could be the same thing...an angler dangles a hook in the water...So an angler is a dangler, right?
8/21/2009 3:52:17 PM
it's pretty obvious that your dad was talking about his wang...
8/21/2009 3:52:35 PM
Haha...well okay since we've now figured out that I heard my dad wrong....can anyone tell me if a licensed ANGLER has the right of way?Lol....I feel dorky now....hold on I'm going to ask my dad if he said angler or dangler. So I just asked him and he said he kept saying angler. And I was like well shit. And then my brother said "You don't have to have a license to have a dingleberry"[Edited on August 21, 2009 at 3:56 PM. Reason : ]

I considered myself to be a licensed dangler[Edited on August 21, 2009 at 4:15 PM. Reason : d]

if you hook a swimmer, you should probably stay off the beach. plus you probably won't catch shit anyways
8/21/2009 3:56:13 PM
i think the only way you get in trouble would be maliciously like trying to hook someone and damage them etc
8/21/2009 3:57:43 PM
Yeah, I mean obviously I'm not going to go fishing if it's super crowded...but I can't help it if I'm fishing where there isn't anyone when I cast out there but then someone who isn't paying attention swims into my line.[Edited on August 21, 2009 at 3:59 PM. Reason : ]

Yeah I would think that if I was swimming and someone was fishing, I would swim somewhere else... same goes if I was fishing and I saw someone swimming nearby. I would fish somewhere else. Besides, you won't catch much in a lake or pond if someone is swimming nearby, scaring the fish and whatnot.

Well luckly I don't feel shameful for this. I just laughed at myself for the mistake and now I'm trying to find out the answer to the actual question.
8/21/2009 4:00:42 PM
if i'm fishing and i see a swimmer thats like 100 yards away i'm going to fish and hope he sees me cause i'm not walking all over creation to fish
8/21/2009 4:01:12 PM
^yeah that's what I do.I mean I'm going to cast out if there isn't a swimmer directly in front of me, but I'm not going keep my hook dry cause there are swimmers out there.

Well I'm going down to the beach now...I'm not going to dangle anything today.
