I think that they need to let Pete back in baseball. He bet on baseball, but all those guys who juice up are cheating which is way worse.

sure betting is against the rules, but he never bet against his team, and I don't think it affected the outcome of any games...

juicing, on the other hand, affects game play, and gives those willing to take the risk an unfair advantage. I definitely think pete rose should be let in. And I think anyone from this era should be allowed in, just with an asterik stating he was from the steroid era

that said, I say test all players bi-weekly... just gotta pee in a cup once every 7 games, no biggie

of course they need to let him in the hall. the only one who really thinks otherwise is the commissioner and internet trolls. even the players association feels like a huge meaty cock because of the underhanded vote to ban ineligible players after he willingly bowed to a lifetime ban from playing.

plus the man bet on his own fucking team

and the steroids thing is a joke and always has been. everyone is doing it, everyone always has done it and the only people that pay for it are the people without friends on the inside to help them bury results.

Roids should be legal in sports. Everyone equal - everyone knowing the risk.

In as a player. Never allowed to manage again. It's as simple as that.

Roid users should be shot on site.

Theres no way betting is worse, he was a manager at the time so at worse, he should have lost his job, why this has ever kept him out of the hall of fame is beyond me. It would have been different if he bet against his team because then he would have incentive to loose, but he bet on his own team.

In the most important city in America, it is life and death. By far the most popular sport and nothing is even remotely close... just saying.

*** Pete Rose betting was worse. He didn't bet against HIS teams but it is still a huge motivating factor on decisions that affect not just the game at hand. And PEDs being talked about in solely baseball is the biggest fucking joke ever. That alone speaks to the relevance and most important, the reverence the American public has for the game. We have NFL guys jacked up out of their mind weekly and there is nary a whisper...

New York is not the "most important" city in the United States. Get the fuck out of here with your bullshit.

Also, the rest of the country cares about football.

^There is less talk about it in football because it isn't having the same historical impact on the game. Baseball is an individual sport, despite what it may look like. If football is designed as a game where you had one offensive player try to run by one defensive player and if you got tackled three times, you changed sides, then there would be a much more visible impact. However, because it is played with eleven people who can all equally affect a play at any given time, the importance of the steroids seems to be diminished.

The NFL also has a much more strenuous drug testing policy than MLB, or at least they are much more vocal about it.

Betting on baseball by people involved in the game is infinitely worse than dudes using PEDs.

But betting on baseball isn't what keeps Rose out of Cooperstown; lying about betting on baseball is what keeps Rose out of Cooperstown.

Did anyone hear the Fay Vincent interview on Rome about a month ago? He was asked this exact question.

he might have intentionally changed his pitching rotations in order to put the odds in his favor though. we'll never know for sure. Pete Rose also had some dangerous gangster affiliates that he was placing bets through, so how would we know that he didn't get in debt big a couple of times and intentionally throw a game to help them pay off his debt?

betting is much worse. a person that takes performance enhancing drugs is only doing so to be more competitive, and it makes the game better to watch for everyone. besides, everyone at the pro level does it so the playing field is still level. betting on sports only adds incentive to take the element of chance out of the game and find ways to fix the outcome.

the NFL testing policy is a joke. They allow a T:E ratio of 6:1, whereas IOC testing is 4:!. Several medical studies proved that about half of athletes are capable of taking about 3 times more exogenous testosterone than their body is capable of producing without failing the IOC test, so what do you think that implies about the NFL testing? There's a reason why almost every offensive linemen in the NFL is over 300 pounds now.

With that being said, I hope they don't change a thing. I think the game is much more entertaining to watch nowadays.

i mean seriously. in reality, i don't care if people gamble OR take drugs. but in this case, at the time betting was a clear no-no. in the steroids era, it was all just an attempt to be as competitive as possible. no shame in that, just set a poor example for taking risks with your body.

still, i think pete rose should be hall of famed

Micheal Vick was committing multiple felonies by fighting dogs just so he could bet on them, and people were happy to see him come come back to play. It boggles my mind that they still keep Pete Rose out of the hall of fame for doing less.
