Creamy FTW.

All those who like crunchy either a) like wasting money (crunchy is just creamy PB with half the volume replaced by peanuts) or b) like the feel of nuts in their mouth.

Discuss.

Creamy FTW.

I think it's more fattening, though.

^^ I bet it would be cheaper to buy a jar of creamy and a can of peanuts and mix them together than to buy 2 jars of crunchy. The ratio of peanuts to peanut butter in your average crunchy jar is probably 2:1 on a volume basis

I always thought crunchy PB was more fattening than creamy

I prefer creamy

^^ actually, that's probably not true since most peanuts that you buy are whole instead of tiny pieces, and those command a premium by comparison

also, you realize that creamy peanut butter and crunchy are both made from peanuts...right? it's not like they throw cow dung in with the crunchy...it's all the same thing

to each their own, i suppose

look at it this way...if two jars of peanut butter, one crunchy and one creamy, are the same price for the same weight, one is not more expensive than the other

however, since there is less "butter" in the crunchy, and that "butter" is made not only from peanuts, but from vegetable oil as well, you are PROBABLY paying for fewer peanuts by buying creamy than by purchasing crunchy

the difference is small, but it's there

crunchy isn't bad, but just isn't the same if you try to do apples and peanut butter with crunchy....

Both have their place.

Inside Ritz or Nila Wafers, creamy.

Inside a sandwich or straight from the jar, crunchy all the way.

I only do the all-natural pb, which is finely ground but neither crunchy nor creamy.

No additional salt, oil or sugar. Just ground peanuts ftw.

^ and a nice layer of oil on the top that you have to stir in before you use it...and don't you have to refrigerate that stuff too?

You don't have to refrigerate it, but it'll separate again if not refrigerated.

i'm surprised there's enough moisture in peanuts to make it into a butter without anything else

they don't even add...water?

I only buy Publix natural pb (Publix is a FL grocery store) and it doesn't have the layer of oil to stir in. It comes in a clear, plastic tub and it is ONLY peanuts. I think you can get the same thing at Whole Foods or Fresh Market.

I store it in the fridge, but it doesn't need to stay in the fridge. I keep everything in the fridge bc it's Florida and bugs here are crazy.

Here's a similar product you can find in NC:

Peanut butter, peanuts =

I will eat

almonds
cashews
hazelnuts
pistachios
walnuts
pine nuts
macadamias (yum...!!!)

and their butters, all day.

But peanuts?

Peanut butter gives me horrible nasty tasting burps for several hours after I consume it

The only nut I don't like which is not actually a nut. (it is a legume)

It's $5 for 16 oz on the site I posted, but it's $2 per 16 oz at Publix.

Crunchy, for the texture.

Sandwiches w/ creamy just feel like condiment sandwiches.

i used to be a creamy-only kind of guy. then one day about a year ago, i retried some Skippy Extra Crunchy.

it was like:

Quote :
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE!!!1"

you people still banging the creamy-only drums ... i feel sorry for you. you're like the prisoners trapped in Plato's Cave, trying to make sense out of the shadows.

come on out and see what you're missing.

What the hell is the celery for? To replace a spoon? Seems like celery is just a delivery method.
