I had gamefly for a while so i played most of the games that came out last fall through spring that were on Xbox. Left 4 dead etc. I haven't had a pc that could play anything worth shit in like 4 years though.


this is not a joke. I don't care that i only have like 5 friends. I got a new computer to play Diablo III more or less, and realized i might as well try some other shit in the mean time.

I'm thinking I'll get Defcon for my next computer game. It's not an FPS, but you should give it a look. The wiki page explains the rules and basic idea behind the game as well as providing screen shots.

Crysis is good even though it takes a computer from the year 2020 to run on the highest settings.

Anything Blizzard makes. (Stay away from WoW though.)

Bioshock or Portal

I'm excited about Bioshock 2 coming out next year and I'm replaying Portal right now

I keep thinking about getting into TF2 but I think it's mostly because I love the art from it

To everyone saying you need a supercomputer from the future to run Crysis:

That's bull. What you need is a modern processor (fast Core 2 Duo, average Core 2 Quad overclocked to ~3GHz, or a Core i7) and a modern graphics card (nVidia GPUs outperform ATI in tons of games, but when it comes to Crysis the Radeon 4870 X2 is the absolute best).

I have a Core 2 Quad running at 3 GHz and an nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ and Crysis runs great at 1080p with all the settings on High. My brother has a slower Core 2 Quad and a GeForce GTX 260, which just blows Crysis away at 720p (his computer monitor is 1366x768) with all settings on High and runs smoothly on Very High settings and AF and AA turned all the way up.

If you want to play at higher resolutions than 1080p and turn on all the eye candy, then yeah, you need 2 GPUs. Grab a 4870 X2 online for around $370 and you'll be in business.

yeah i just found myself skipping around to towns and doing the same quests i'd done in every other RPG. Every now again i'd stumble on one of those gate things and die the second i went inside. I also probably only played for like 3 hours.

RPGs i like:

Diablo II LOD
KOTOR I&II
Fallout 3

Maybe story isn't the word i'm looking for, but i prefer games to have a little bit more linear progression. Its cool that you can go around and do whatever you want and never even touch a story if you choose not to, but thats rarely what i 'want' to do. I want to kill bosses and shit, and have everything always getting progressively more difficult, instead of realize. Also the monster leveling system was fucking annoying.
