Yeah, I'd cut his balls off, roast them on a stick, and feed them to him.

After staying awake for about three straight days on one occasion, including getting wasted drunk and sobering up twice during that time; nothing I said made any sense whatsoever. I have no idea what they may have gleaned from this, but there is only a slight chance any of it made any sense; much less was truthful.

If you're dealing with an enemy who is willing to kill every citizen on the block and take out his own life, then you're dealing with a man who doesn't fear death.

So the boundaries get pushed... sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. But with every man you catch, you want him to talk so that they can catch more guys running around strapping themselves with enough C4 to rival Hiroshima.

I'm on the fence on this issue in the fact that sleep deprivation is actually cruel at all.

If it gets results then I'm glad their doing it. I really don't care what they do to terrorist in order to keep us safe. I care a lot more about the lives of Americans than I do about the comfort of a terrorist.

Quote :
""I remember seeing proofs of a CIA interrogation manual, something we'd been sent unofficially, for comment," the old man said. "The first chapter laid out the ways in which torture is fundamentally counterproductive to intelligence. The argument had nothing to do with ethics, everything to do with quality of product, with not squandering potential assets." He removed his steel-rimmed glasses. "If the man who keeps returning to question you avoids behaving as if he were your enemy, you begin to lose your sense of who you are. Gradually, in the crisis of self that your captivity becomes, he guides you in your discovery of who you are becoming."

"Did you interrogate people?" asked Garreth, the black Pelican case under his feet.

"It's an intimate process," the old man said. "Entirely about intimacy." He spread his hand, held it, as if above an invisible flame. "An ordinary lighter will cause a man to tell oyu anything, whatever he thinks you want to hear." He lowered his hand. "And will prevent him ever trusting you again, even slightly. And will confirm him, in his sense of self, as few things will.""

I read some Clancy book once that had sleep deprivation in it. It wasn't just the deprivation of all sleep, it used lack of sleep along with complete disorientation of time:

room with no windows. sometimes they'd let you sleep for hours, sometimes for minutes. and every time you wake up, it's a new day as far as you can tell (new guards, lights come on, normal morning activities in the hallway, etc).

[Edited on August 28, 2009 at 7:39 AM. Reason : same for sleep time]

I personally am all for getting information that will keep our country safe by all means necessary.

We are dealing with an enemy that wouldn't think twice to fly another plane into another building in the US if given the chance. War is hell, but once engaged in it we have to do anything and everything possible to win.

From the hooksaw Field Manual:

1. Clamp cables to terrorist's testicles.

2. Rev engine to redline.

3. Profit.

I was typing up an acid, mocking response to the tacit (and not so tacit) approval of torture displayed in this thread, but I don't have the stomach to try to be even remotely funny. Moral cowards.

That shit would be rough

I've stayed awake for over 2 days before during exams and I was damn near hallucinating. Nothing made sense.

I've stayed awake for three straight before, without getting drunk, or drugs, and I was fine. I don't think either your experience or mine has anything to do with being kept awake and interrogated, though.

I'm just saying, if we're gonna torture people, let's just be up front about it, and not ride other countries' nuts when they do it.
