got a laptop im trying to uninstall 2005 Synamtec Corporate ed. from, but the uninstall process requires a password to be entered, which is unknown.

Is there any way to circumvent this and continue? (and yes, the symantec had not been updated since 3/2005....)

i assume you aren't logged in as administrator?

try going to safe mode, login as administrator and uninstall from there

having those privs is not always equal to being logged in as administrator

but, that link is a better way to take care of it

yeah whenever ive encountered that before, the password has been symantec bc most sysadmins are too lazy to change it

this has to be lamest security I've ever seen by symantec. pro tip: if you kill the msiexec.exe process created by the admin account you're logged in as, the password prompt goes away and the uninstall keeps on truckin
