This year Relay For Life is holding the first annual Wake County "Walk-n-Wag." It's basically your typical Relay For Life fundraiser except you and your pal raise money together Then on Halloween morning you do a 1 mile walk with all the participants and their doggies.

Here's the link to the website where you register ($20 for you and your dog):

http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/CommunityFundraisingPages/CFPFY09SouthAtlantic?pg=entry&fr_id=25006

You get a t-shirt for yourself and a bandana for your dog when you register. As with the normal RFL fundraising, you have your personal page and set a goal for yourself, etc.

I hope some of yall decide to sign up for it.. It's a great cause. Gambit and I will be there They're also holding a costume contest the day of.

Dog lovers + Halloween =

Sounds like a good cause though.

One question, do all the funds go to treat cancer in humans, or does any of it go towards research towards treating cancer in dogs & pets?

haha!! my pup is a pit bull so I'm thinking of making him into a kissing booth I was going to get a Michael Vick jersey but seeing as that's an extremely bad joke, probably not the best for RFL

I am pretty positive it's just for human cancer. I think dogs were brought into it because a lot of owners wanted to bring their dogs to the events but they're not allowed...

Cool idea! Do you think this will become a regular thing? I know it says first annual but you never know if that means there will be a second annual

Yeah, I definitely think it will. They have quite a bit of participants already and I know a lot of people always want to take their dogs to the spring event.

I seriously have thought about doing this for my little weiner dog & I. It'd be sooo fun. He loves his bandanas

This would be awesome for Cotton! (And maybe Flex if his obedience is going good by then!)

Samwise: Get a stuffed Football player, make a Vick jersey for it, and have it dragging behind your dog!

I will do this with Flex (Pit Bull) if you don't!

^ I love that idea! I might just use it... and even if I do use it, you should do it too, it would probably be even better to have multiple pits wearing it

I'm in for this.

One of my best friends died just two weeks ago after a three-year fight with osteosarcoma. I'm sure this is the first of many things we'll do for him.

Here's our team page for him:

Please help us if you can!

I think there is a prize for the costume contest. Relay is pretty good about getting people involved and rewarding them.. This year at the normal RFL they gave away gift baskets as part of a raffle

My dog isn't crazy about any costumes that involve head gear. She doesn't like that stuff.

The good news is the team I talked about up a few posts up met our goal! We've raised $1,000 so far! WOOHOO!!

That's great!! I'm at $285, my goal was $300.. couldn't get enough people for a team but our team earlier this year raised over $3,500 so I guess it's ok!

Gambit just looked at me like "you have got to be fucking kidding me" when I put the halo on his ears and that shit was gone in 0.0005 seconds

Haha. My miniature Dachshund, Walter, has a hotdog costume and he isn't exactly a fan of it either! The velcro part that attaches near his belly got caught up on his weiner once and he squealed. Poor thing. LOL

i tried the banana costume from target but it didn't fit. the hat looked adorably funny though. ordered my dog a #17 wolfpack jersey. they assured me it would arrive in time let's just hope he doesn't chew it up while wearing it.

did anyone else think this could have been a lot better? i think they should have had one or two contests before the walk and then a couple afterward. the vendors/sponsors should have stuck around a lot longer too. i also registered early last month and put in that I wore an adult small and ended up with a 2XL t-shirt
