4 beds in one room, community kitchen and bathroom. $7-$15 a night. AND THERE WASN'T EVEN A HAIRDRYER!!!!

For 4 bucks per night, I slept in a hammock at this hostel in costa rica that had no hot water. I think I went 4 days without bathing. Haha. But it was fun! The place was full of young Euro kids and hosted toga parties. I'd rather to that than stay in the Atl ghetto.

what? how does one get these rates? i don't remember the last time i paid less than $120/nt for a hilton/marriott/equivalent. not that i'm complaining... truthfully, more than worth it knowing what to expect when i roll up somewhere at midnight.

would like to know before i book the last 3 nights of our hawaii trip. planning on staying at the hilton for $220/nt.

I am a diehard Priceline negotiator, but I have never bid on a room under three stars. Being able to narrow down the regionality of the auction seems to keep you out of the ghetto, at least. But you may end up with one bed or two, which is another variable to contend with (the front desk peeps aren't usually as receptive to negotiations as with someone who paid retail for their room).
