500kpbs down is just pathetic. A good cell phone on 2G could give it a run for it's money.

I also crash those 2Wire routers like nobody's bizness. 5+ times/day and they want $60 to replace it when it's ~4 years old

I have DSL. I pay for 3.0 Mbps and I get exactly 3.0 Mbps.

Seriously though, l2communicate or spend 10 bucks and replace the power adapter yourself. You probably have a 2A one and it's causing it to lockup. They started putting out 2.1A replacements a while back.

That, or tell them you want the 660 ($free) and flash your own WRT54G.

my parents have embarq using a 660 and they've received excellent service thus far
