lets hear it for pinball machines. that round steel bearing slamming into bumpers and kickers and traps is downright hypnotic. the crashing and ringing and beeping as the points spool upwards bumping into infinity. downright pornographic the amount of joy they serve up

does the wolf's den still have em? i know i dumped a paycheck's worth of quarters into the indiana jones machine they had back in the day

every game system should be fitted with a klaxon. end of story

I have an old school pinball machine. it's pretty fun, though nothing like modern machines. I'm estimating that this thing has to 50+ years old. Maybe I should research it...

I think it's a shame that most places have been getting rid of their pinball machines.

As an aside, if you ever want a pinball machine a good place to look is the drug seizure auctions on Hillsborough. Every time I went over there there'd be at least one pinball machine up for auction. I guess drug dealers like pinball machines too

whichever one i one day end up owning MUST have a multiball mode. i seem to do better when there are several balls rolling around than just one. i guess maybe because i dont have to time to think and fuck things up, but its so damn fun

^^^^^

I've got that DVD. Excellent inside story.
What killed pinball was the videogame. First the arcade ones. after decades of pinball
and mechanical arcade games the vid was just so new and exciting. games like defender, pacman, and the early racing games were awesome for the time. Also, vids were A LOT cheaper and easier to maintain. hardly any moving parts. Nowadays the amusement company will stick a pinball on the "route" and just leave it unattended until it finally dies, filthy, with half the lights burned out.

and what killed the arcade was the home videogame.

Kind of Darwin like, I guess.
But to me there is nothing cooler than a pin machine all lit up in the dark.
