...in my bathroom fixing a light that my landlord didn't even know was out.None of my roommates said anything to our landlord- he just KNEW out how to open up our door and let two contracted strangers meander through my house? We mentioned this as an issue to him upon signing the lease- we said, "hey man- we could be in the shower or something when you release these wild beasts into our residence- so you think you could call or SOMETHING before letting them walk through?"Anyway...What kind of shit is this? What kind of landlord fixes lights anyway? Was he spying? Am I a crazy chick to be pissed about something that is "no-harm-no-foul"? We even wrote it down on the lease as an issue. He signed to it. I don't want any trouble, but doesn't ANYONE else think it's fucked up?Does anyone's landlord do fucked up shit too?-Lauren

I got a dog, in part, so things like this wouldn't be an issue but I sleep naked and often walk around in nothing but underwear, so if it were me I'd be pissed.

Right now it's light bulbs.Next will be...
9/9/2009 9:55:28 AM

I'd get out the UV light and look for splurf shots outside your bedroom/in your bathroom. Take pics, mail to landlord, threaten with lawsuit. PROFIT.I guess the likelihood of this really stems from one thing: do you got a tight little ass or a big gaudy dimpled ass?

I'd definitely complain about this. Landlord was probably snooping around while you were at work and found the light that was out.
9/9/2009 10:42:28 AM
^^Killer. I like a big ass. Lemme get at dat.
9/9/2009 10:44:19 AM
i wrote a song for you...it's called fuck off mother fuckerrrrrrrrrrr you're right- landlord prolly was totally snooping- but for what? I kicked the meth habit years ago.
9/9/2009 10:45:39 AM
Damn. Totally dissed. I'll live.

You need to have a serious conversation with him. First, find out if he has been there when you were not there. Second, let him know that this is not acceptable regardless of whether it was his first time or not.

the vanity of some people amazes me...my maintenance guy in my apartment complex always just walks in a and it gets on my nerves....so i guess he wants to rape me
9/9/2009 10:56:21 AM
i guess he always does it and gets on your nerves because you don't correct him or your landlord for invading your privacy

Are you absolutely positive that nobody said anything to the landlord? If not, I would assume this is against your lease unless you signed some ridiculous lease that lets the landlord or his agents come into your apartment whenever they feel like it. Our lease is just a standard NC lease and our landlord has to either give us 24 hours notice before entering the premises or be invited in.

standard leases specifiy at least 24-48 hours notice for *NON EMERGENCY* repair. having an interior light out that you didnt even report is a non emergencyi would notr put up with such shit. the landlord, or people working for your landlord, has no right to enter your unit without reasonable notice, unless there truly is an emergency.it's creepy and it's also against the law.I have a large dog that is fiercely territorial and hostile to non-family members who approach our door so I've never had this problem. I tell my landlords point blank that it would be "a bad idea" for them to try to come in when we're not home. permission or not.you should very clearly state that it is NOT okay for your landlord or his agents to enter your unit without advance notice. put it in writing and send it to him certified mail. Email it if you have an email address to send to. i would consider installing additional locks at least a chain lock for when you're asleep. i would also consider setting up a webcam to video your entrance(s) when you're not home.definitely contact a lawyer to get advice on what sort of recourse you have for future events.[Edited on September 9, 2009 at 7:29 PM. ^agree, it's illegal, even in the shady state of NC. He has to give you notice before entering your property. On the flip side, how did you even know this would be an issue before you moved in? Sounds like a shady situation from the get go.
