^I'm going to guess this sense of confidence came from the archery PE class at State

not at all...this sense of confidence came from 4 years of national target competition and the fact that i've made my own recurve (from osage orange), hunted with it, and brought down a deer with it (a doe, not a buck)

[Edited on September 10, 2009 at 1:11 PM. Reason : for clarification, i did not target shoot with the osage orange bow...i used a riser/limb setup]

^ That's awesome. I really want to get a recurve to hunt with, but gotta get some extra cash first. Where did you learn how to make recurves?

^^ Its more than a week later! Not till October or November depending on which part of the state you hunt.

Bowseason opens in 2 days!

I'm still dove and goose hunting this weekend though. I bought another new Mossberg 500 and I'm not ready to put it down yet.

i was just being a troll with the compound comment...i just like to tease

my ex's aunt and uncle are woodworkers down in florida (they mostly do furniture and sculptural pieces)...about 10 years ago, though, a client or friend or something donated a bunch of osage orange to the guy and he decided to teach himself how to make them (once you know how to do it, you'll realize it's actually pretty simple and he already had a head start since he knew how to work wood so well)...when my ex and i were still dating, we spent a week down there and since i was already into archery, i asked him to teach me...it really doesn't take much

this is a good video if you're interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHhGjRdE9Zc

the hardest part is finding osage orange that's not $vermont (and i wouldn't want to practice on that, considering how expensive it is)

[Edited on September 10, 2009 at 1:34 PM. Reason : osage orange is about $35/plank + S/H: http://shop.vendio.com/mollyb22/item/771222573/?s=1252569362]
