I got a question about surf fishing, i think now to surf fish in north carolina you need a permit or lisence to surf fish. can some one here shead some light on this. i cant remember if it is fishing in the intercoastal water way or actully of the beach its self. i know for a fact a carolina beach the game warrden drives around asking to see you liscence, but in all honesty i dont know alot about it. i think it is bullshit that you have to pay to fish in the ocean..

Yeah you need one of the general fishing licenses. 10 bucks for a day license.

^ most of that money goes into the management of the resource, like sending biologists out to make sure fish populations arent being depleted and recommend size and take limits.Flounder, sea trout, and drum have taken pretty hard hits as coastal fishing has gotten more popular. Here is to hoping they can effectively manage the system so that we can still fish while the populations recover.

^^^And I'm pretty sure that every state is like that. Federal waters is >3 miles, and state waters is everything from 3 miles inland.
