Can you run a video camera non stop with some kind of adapter that can plug into a car power port ie lighter. What do modern cam corders record to, is it an sd card, flash drive, dvd etc.

They do make lighter adapters for some camcorders, so I assume you could. Probably would have to keep the engine running. Most consumer camcorders record to flash memory or miniDV tapes. I've seen some that just have internal memory. You can also record directly to hard disks with most operating systems.

now all i need to figure out is how to mount it to the visor screw or ceiling. its for a patrol car dash cam, home made. Martel electronics wants 2000 for their cheapest system
