Why would someone try to get into something they don't like?
9/17/2009 2:42:08 PM
9/17/2009 2:42:54 PM
if you like rieslings, i'm a fan of:and:both rather inexpensive but yummy (disclaimer: not a high class wine drinker, just know what I like )
9/17/2009 2:43:45 PM
9/17/2009 2:45:19 PM
so do you just want to "get into wine" because it'll make you look cool or something?why else would you force yourself to like something?
9/17/2009 2:46:05 PM
if you read above, it is mostly because i dont want to remain static in my life. i strive to be better today than i was yesterday.
9/17/2009 2:48:24 PM

9/17/2009 3:03:07 PM
i've never seen that chateau ste michelle but have tried the Relax.any pinot noir's that are particularly good.do you get what you pay for in wine? or is it just personal opinion
9/17/2009 3:03:26 PM
9/17/2009 3:04:00 PM
Honestly, beer can be a more expensive habit than wine, depending on the beer you like.
9/17/2009 3:04:59 PM
^well yeahone of the reasons i started making my ownif i can make a batch that'll live up to a $14 six pack, well im saving like $10/6er.

9/17/2009 3:09:47 PM
^^ Can you make something like Dogfish Head 90-min? If so, I'm coming over.I think the priciest beer I ever ordered was a $40 beer at The Brickskeller in DC. Great beer, but didn't live up to the pricetag. Can't even remember the name. But they have beers that are over $100 per bottle. That said, I'd rather spend $40 on wine than beer. There are so many good, cheap microbrews that it's hard to justify the cost of a really expensive beer.[Edited on September 17, 2009 at 3:13 PM. Reason : .]

9/17/2009 3:10:50 PM
^ for the money, they're all pretty goodi've had much better, but it's also more expensive
9/17/2009 3:15:12 PM
obviously good food is more expensive that chicken fingers and cheese sticks, but that's no excuse to eat like a 5 year old
9/17/2009 3:16:31 PM
i think he is trying to get into wine drinking....cheap wines are good to try and acquire taste for it....later he can spend some monies on better stuff
9/17/2009 3:17:13 PM
Yea I agree that wine is an aquired taste. I fucking love beer and coffee but I didn't the first time I drank them, same with wine. In the beginning I found a few whites I liked, but I could never get used to reds. Chateau Morrisette's Red Mountain Laurel got me drinking red wine. It's considered a sweet/dessert wine but it's only sweet in comparison to a table wine (it doesn't really taste sugary or anything, to me anyways). After drinking it a few times I think it helped my palate "ease" into red wines. From the site:

i'm not a huge fan of shiraz, but the three i like (in order from least to most) are: charles shaw, yellow tail, rosemount[Edited on September 17, 2009 at 3:18 PM. Reason : .]

Can most of yous guys tell the difference between say a 20 dollar bottle and a 80 dollar bottle ?Because I can'tSure, I can tell a nice bottle from fucking Boone's Farm, but thats about it
9/17/2009 3:19:30 PM
I like reds.Pinotage, Montepulciano and Malbec are my favorites, but I'll drink any red you sit in front of me. I don't know shit about wine, and I definitely don't scoff at 3 Buck Chuck. In fact I have one in my wine rack right now, but I can't really taste the difference anyway. I pretty much just browse the wine section, read the descriptions, and if it sounds good and I'm in the mood for that style or flavor it's advertising I'll buy it. I've been known to buy a bottle just b/c I liked the label or thought it had a clever name (Menage A Trois and Primus? Yep...guilty.).I do not like white wines for the most part, but I won't turn my nose up at it and I keep giving them a chance whenever I can. I do prefer Prosecco over champagne.[Edited on September 17, 2009 at 3:20 PM. Reason : ]

my roommate dint like the taste of redwine so i make him get the sparkling wine
9/17/2009 3:25:34 PM
I drink carbernet and pinot noir....that's about it, and I'm more than content with the selection in the < $15 range. I'd rather have something relatively smooth than oak and floral flavors out the ass....but I suppose that's because I'm not much of a wine drinker....only on a weeknight when I'm just taking it easy at the house.
9/17/2009 3:25:43 PM
i love that there is such a variety of wines too. if i get bored with one kind there is always another. and it seems that more and more types are being made all the time.what is close in taste to pinot noir?
9/17/2009 3:29:50 PM
depends on the pinot
9/17/2009 3:33:46 PM
Try Chatham Hill Winery's "Sweet Carolina" wines. The Blackberry is wonderful. Oh and go there for a tasting and tour, it's like $5.
9/17/2009 3:47:44 PM
