this is true.

but honestly, there is no need to take a date to your HS reunion. If you go stag, there will be at least 1-2 acceptable girls who want to hook up with you.

If you choose to do it or not is up to you.

thjat is very true. and what i was thinking, from my experience. a lot of chicks will be divorced, or at least looking for something different than the same old scrubs who still live in town

but, unfortunatley, they're not going to hook up with Tyler, not after everyone there reads this thread which will inevitably be printed off and passed around.

naw, man, i wouldn't do that to my buddy. Him and I shared lunch at Microsoft.

he's an allright guy, i'd hang out wiht him any time. even though this "personal ad" was entirely ill-conceived and, if not technically "creepy", definitely lame.

This thread is already worlds better than expected

and for the stag suggestion, I'd rather have a "date" specifically because I don't want to hookup with some high school leftovers.

Joe, if you were gonna be in the area I'd definitely take you as my "partner". Dear god that would be hilarious

So there are no people that you went to high school with that you were friends with that you wouldn't mind seeing and catching up with?

There are several friends from high school that I still chat with and stuff but because we all are living in different places now and are rarely all together in the same place at the same time we don't get much of a catching up time anymore. However, when we do get together it turns into a great reunion of remembering all the fun times we had and the great stories to share.

Maybe my class was just abnormal and we actually enjoyed high school.

Aside from the ones I have always done so with?

No. Because if I wanted to see and catch up with, I would have done so by now. Oh, right...I have.

Friend at one point in life != friend forever. Like any relationship, friendships require at least cursory maintenance...which includes talking to each other more than once or twice a decade.

Then again, I'm one of those crazy people who doesn't insist on calling everyone I've ever been on good terms with a friend, so what do I know?

^^Exactly...like that's how I keep in touch with several of my friends from high school, but we don't get to actually hang out much anymore.

^That's just dumb. Why would not wanna catch up with the people that you were really close to in high school? I mean a reunion is exactly that, a reunion. You're getting together with people you haven't seen in a long time that you were friends with at one point. Obviously you're not bffs anymore so you reunite and catch up and laugh about all the fun things you did in high school.

Like sawa said, it's about everyone being able to get back together. I still see a lot of people every year or two, but we haven't all gotten together as a group since high school really.

You, possibly. Because if you'll bother to read (go ahead, it's okay to re-read posts...or hell, to even truly read them the first time around), you'll see that I've done so.

Crazy, I know.

^^Oh, okay. Well that's great for you. But not all people have the opportunity to get together and catch up with old friends or even continue the friendships they had in high school. Gasp! People move away from their hometown! That's why there are reunions .

Don't make blanket statements about people in such a negative tone just because you have done something a certain way which happens to be different.

^We aren't having a 5 year reunion, not enough of us are out of college yet

So either you and all your friends have continued to live in the same area or close to it OR you are rich and beautiful and can afford to fly out to see your friends whenever you want.

There are plenty of people from my high school that I would genuinely like to meet up with and chat and a high school reunion is a convenient way to gather them all into one place. It's not about them being my OMG BFF FOREVA EVEN THOUGH WE NEVER TALK NOW but more about catching up and maybe rekindling a lost friendship.

You are saying you don't see the point in a high school reunion because you already meet up with people you were close with.

I am saying that a lot of the time it's not about the people you were close with, it's about people you were decent friends with, that you are curious what they are up to beyond the BS people throw on Facebook, and you might even find that the years have given you much more in common than you had in high school and you can reform that friendship into something stronger. Reunions don't have to just be about seeing what a big fat loser that chick you hated turned out to be.
