I have 11 vacation days to blow, no plans for Christmas. However, I am broke but want to get out for a few days (willing to drive anywhere, really).

I've always wanted to go to NYC for Christmas...see the snow, the big tree all lit up at night, the shopping, ice skating...it was feel so magical I think! Er, well that's just be being all mushy

NYC is overrated for Christmas. Crowded with a bunch of tourists getting in my way

There's a difference between normal amount of tourists and insane crush of tourists. Christmas in NYC would fall under the latter. It's better to go right after Thanksgiving when all the displays are up but the crowds haven't descended upon the city.

Yea, I understand where you are coming from...I just always thought it would be extra special to be in NYC during the holidays. I've never been there before...so maybe I am just having wishful thinking on the crowded-ness!
