The Weld County Sheriff's deputy thought he saw something fall in the area around County Road 41 and County Road 28. He believes it came from the bottom of the aircraft.

There is now a very large search in the area, moving through high grass. "

chasing the landfall of a major hurricane is a very dangerous ordeal even for professional experts. For normal people, its flatout stupid but this guy takes it a step further. He takes kids into harms way. That right there was enough for the kids to be taken into custody. If anything happens you are without 911 or any help for several hours.

I take it you guys are being sarcastic with me or just don't understand how dangerous chasing hurricanes is. If the latter, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and just accept your ignorance. Theres a reason dozens of people died in gustav, ya know?

[Edited on October 15, 2009 at 5:35 PM. Reason : and I doubt you guys have been in the eye of a major hurricane. if you have then good for you]

My parents let us vaccinate and herd half-ton animals when we were little. Should we have been taken away from our parents? Kids get a better education outside of school. Learn about nature while immersed in nature.

they are probably safer in the car on an open road than they are in a house where trees could fall on them

They are "chasing" a hurricane not a tornado.

its pretty hard to chase a hurricane.

what are you tlaking about factors?

noreasters and major hurricanes like gustav are not even in the same league. I'm also sure you haven't been through the eyewall of many powerfull hurricanes in the same place as the noreasters.

Getting brushed by a hurricane, experiencing a weak hurricane or getting hit by an inland hurricane are all much less than going through the eyewall of a major hurricane.

Ignorance is ok fo ryou but its not an excuse for this guy putting his childrens lives at stake over and over.

hurricane "chasing" is the term but you basically guess where its going to make landfall and go there and wait. then move a little if you are near where its going to make landfall to intercept the eye. extremely more dangerous than chasing tornadoes.

ex:
a hurricane is headed for wilmington on sunday.

1.drive down to wilmington
2.find out on saturday night hurricane will probably hit further south than expected.
3.drive down to myrtle beach
4. wait for hurricane to make landfall
5.film the rage of the eyewall and calmness of the eye
6.profit
