I listened to the absolute shit out of the Bon Iver LP. Doubt he'll/they'll ever replicate it, though. I don't really have an answer -- there are a lot of bands I used to like a lot that have taken nosedives in the past five years.

[Edited on October 15, 2009 at 10:33 PM. Reason : Joanna Newsom, that's my answer]

my third is probably Cold War Kids. They straight up have a few jams that are my favorite songs ever. But they produce some shit, too.

unfortunately I can't think of many, but some contenders:

Titus Andronicus
Vampire Weekend
Fanfarlo
Albert Hammond, Jr.
Times New Viking

the winner, who no longer exist as a band, i think:

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

Wow, this really made me realize how little of the music I listen to is from bands which are that new. I might go with Rome, Angelspit and I:Scintilla, but I probably should think about it more.

Perhaps you are unaware that 4 out of the 5 bands you named have been around since the 90's, and that the other one (Band of Bees) put out their first album in 2001?

I'll agree with that.

Wish this thread was titled "....that have emerged to you". Because I've been oblivious to some good music in the past that I've only recently discovered.

what's your definition of "emerge"

obviously not on the national scene because it's guaranteed that 99% of America have never heard of any of these bands

hey, AntagoTKE

99% of those bands aren't local at all. Several actually have a very vast national following.

why do you even come into music threads? is the sole purpose to blindly, unsuccessfully troll?

and, by mere definition, to "emerge" means to "appear". so, as indicated clearly in the thread title, it means "emerge". so, not only did you troll fail, you clearly are unsure about the very, very basic semantics of a very, very basic word in our very, very basic language.

Weakling features the original guitarist from the fucking champs.

in my opinion they are the greatest post/black metal whatever you want to call it to come from the states. Check out Krallice also.

Krallice is to New York as Immortal is to Norway. Its about as chaotic as the big apple but somehow still remains black metal.

Christ, man....your first bit doesn't make any sense, and your second bit is a weak stab at trolling. just because you can't get your head around very standard terms doesn't mean a laughable troll is in order.

yes, these bands have emerged

just because they wouldn't fill up a lawn at an amphitheater doesn't mean they don't exist, children.
