use page layout -> breaks -> section breaks (continuous) to make the blank page it's own section.

go into the footer and uncheck "link to previous" then delete it.

the edit the footer on the next page where you want to pick the numbering back up again and insert the page number again.

yeh, I was about to start doing that... but it's gonna be a pain. I was hoping for a built in method. guess I'll just wait to the very end then do page numbers.

worst idea EVAR

never wait til the end to format a word document - you just end up getting lazy and sloppy.
a little bit at a time is always better than dealing with section breaks at the end - they're very messy sometimes

i find it really helps if you do all your section breaks, and unlink all from previous, and then manually link them as needed. that way you truly have independent headers/footers/pagenumbers/etc for each of your sections. ive wanted to pull my hair out by overlooking a simple "link from previous" hidden somewhere in one of my sections.

I don't do anything real complicated in my word docs anymore, so I usually have 3-4 different sections.

1) title page, no page numbers
(insert odd page break)
2) table of contents, list of figures, tables, preface, etc. page numbers i, ii, iii, etc
(insert odd page break)
3) body of document. page numbers 1, 2, 3, etc
(insert odd page break)
4) appendix. usually continue page numbers from previous section (body)


I do the odd page break so that new sections start on an odd page, so if i were to bind my document like a book, new sections start on the right

Are you going to end up printing this thing? Just replace the blank page with a number printed on the bottom with an actual blank page.

/Thinks of the hours wasted on fighting Word formatting over the years.
