As far as good "space marines" vs. aliens games go, I've always liked that old game Natural Selection. In the standard Natural Selection play, the Frontiersmen attack the Kharaa (alien) hives and the Kharaa attack the Frontiersman command console (where the player commander sits). The whole game is build like an RTS, resources are in play with the building of resource towers on the resource nodes to be able to upgrade weapons and abilities. One marine is the Commander who sits in the command console and plays the game like a regular RTS with human players as his units. The aliens have distributed resources and can do as they please individually, but need to coordinate for success.

Once played a round as a marine that lasted 3 hours against a good alien team. The mod is old being based on HL1, but they're building a new one, NS 2 on their own engine.

I'm impressed that they got Lance Henriksen to play Bishop again. This story already looks about a smabillion times better than the AVP movies, which isn't hard to imagine. (Although I did actually like the Wolf Predator from the last one...)

I always loved having 1 or 2 other aliens on my team to coordinate attacks and lure people into rooms. Oh, man hiding directly above doorways or leaping across...<shiver> wall crawling was so much fun.

I can't decide if I want to get this for PC or 360 now. Controls aren't a factor for me since I have a mouse and keyboard for the 360. On the one hand, if the PC version has a console which can be manipulated, then that's the way I'll likely go. On the other hand, my friends will be getting this on 360. Hmmm...

LOL at using the severed head on the retina scanner.

Another video I watched had someone mention a mode of multiplayer where 8 marines are pursuing one predator. Whoever kills him gets to be the predator in the next round.

I'm hopeful that the alien mode begins with bursting through someones ribcage.

But it's not Alien vs Predator 2000, it's some crappy RTS game. A good deal, I guess, to get a $20 game for free, but I'd seriously rather get the $5 related game for free.
