not that i'm a huge fan of Emmett, but I felt it was a bit unceremonious how they killed him. I figured it would at least get a reaction out of Chuck or somebody like "hey, i hated the guy, but now they mean business " or something.


overall, an ok start.... I know this show thrives on being cheesy and cliche, but a lot of it felt overly cliched tonight. Plus, there was too much of Chuck trying to talk to Sarah at obviously highly inappropriate times. I know Chuck is a lovesick geek, but come on - on the one hand, he's apparently trying to be a real spy, but on the other, he can't shut his mouth for 30 seconds while on a mission to a vault with Agent Walker?

temporarily flashing on fighting abilities doesn't really make sense.... with the gov't intelligence, it made sense - he saw something that he flashed on, and he recalled the information. But it's kind of silly that every time he has to punch someone he has to flash all over again on Kung Fu, like he forgot how to do it since last time he flashed (yes, I know the futility of arguing over the silliness of an intentionally silly show/premise)

i think the whole point of the first ep was that he couldn't call it up at will like a real spy would have been able to. For a real spy, like Bryce, he wouldn't need to pull it up except for the most extreme situations. I think you can also explain away the temporary nature of the intersect data as being too much for someone to handle all at once, so its stored in the unused portions of the brain and called up as needed.

but then again, as you mentioned, its a silly show and kind of silly to debate the realism of storing tons of data in someones brain.

Also, it's not like Chuck could flash on how to bench 500lbs and suddenly be able to do it. I suspended belief once last season when he flashed on it and used it to fight, but now it's just getting recockulous and I'm pulling the 'no way he can flash and acquire muscle memory/strength training' card.

Oh well, I still enjoy the show.

after a relatively weak opening night, tonight was great - tons of fun, done with the weak Prague backstory, even though I was rolling my eyes a bit at the obvious "we have to get across the dance floor!" routine.

But Awesome is an awesome addition to the spy game. He was really great tonight, and I was really surprised at my own reaction to his apparent death at the end. Before that scene, I was sad that it looked like he was going to go back to being just a brother-in-law, but now I'm really excited about seeing what he can do when he gets mixed up more with Chuck and the CIA

gotta be honest.... they didn't utilize Awesome like they should/could have. I'd like to see him be a badass at some point.

And haven't we seen Sydney before? Was she not a villain or spy previously? Or was that from another show...?

I thought it was good that Chuck was actually better than Awesome at something (the tv thing last week, and the spying this week). The first 2 seasons, Awesome made Chuck feel inferior in almost every way. Now we're getting a little bit of role reversal in season 3.
