Mike Patrick is pretty bad, watch him for basketball games and he'll constantly mess up what the referee is calling even when it's obvious from what is happening on the floor that that is not happening.

I think Hubie Brown is a very underrated commentator...he's not as energetic as some others and doesn't have the great voice like others, but his ability to quickly break down basketball and explain it coherently on the fly is almost unmatched

Chase Utley? Really? Really? Joe Morgan is top 3 on every list of best 2nd basemen ever. The guy knows what he's talking about. Just because he's not a coach doesn't mean he doesn't know what he's talking about. There's a lot less stress involved in being an announcer than there is in being a coach.

As for him being a racist, what could possibly make you think that?

Yeah Chase Utley, you know the guy who is a lefty hit 2 homeruns off a lefty in one W.S. game and the only other person to do that is Babe Ruth. Yeah that guy. He will wind up as easily the best of his time and possibly all-time because he is clean and is a 5-tool player at the historically worst hitting position.

Regardless, playing ability /= announcing ability. Some of the good ones were horrible players.
